catching up -I was camping in NYS Adk Mountains (over a week)
NO cell service to speak of-nor text or ONLINE....we did break down when we were almost to the campground-luckily enough service to text family (waiting for us at same campground to come rescue us)
All and all ...trip was great once we arrived...i had my three grandskids (7, 10 and 11 mths) and their aunt (our youngest)
fun times skiing, tubing, fishing, kayaking, canoeoing, biking etc..

A lot of last week was beautiful here in CNY. I am sure it was there, too. Was it chilly up there, at least nights?
What do you use for your accommodations? Some families use a combo of RV and tents. Some just use several tents. Some have enough space in their camper/RV that all can sleep there.
Which settlement were you near?

Yes it was chilly but not bad-we camp not RV per say..we cook outside, eat and wash dishes outdoors...for the most part...walk or bike to showers and to get water..NO HOOK UPS...electiric/ water etc..(we only camp in state parks-no lucturies)

That is a beautiful area. My husband and I spent a few days up in that area for our anniversary one year. We did not camp. We stayed in a hotel. Love the scenery and water!!

I lived on the Mojave Desert for a few yesrs when I was growing up. I do live in central NY.
Between the ages of birth to 22, I lived in NY, CA, MD, SC, and then back to NY. So, sometimes for user names nd such, I pull from my past.

that's why we don't stay at DEC parks, just the NYS ones. we've visited parks from Letchworth to Fair Haven, in the Finger Lakes and southern tier. We have a camper with a king sized bed. Hubby, me and the dogs all sleep in comfort!

I love letchworth-I have only been there twice, as a child about 9 yrs old and about 8 yrs ago with my kids. WE camp dry-no hook ups etc. (OTHER THEN spoiked camping at Walt Disney Fort wilderness)
We love Lake Placid, Tupper Lake, and Saranac, LOON & Long lake areas..
