Update.. no CyberknifeGSRon said:Never too much fun
Well last minute change. No Cyberknife today or tomorrow. Scan results must have been good. So I get a single treatment on Friday. I am thinking of getting a motel room for Friday night. More fun than a person should be allowed to have. Ron
Update.. no Cyberknife yesterday or today... after the scans were reviewed I only am getting a single treatment on Friday, late like 3 PM. So indeed I will get a room... As Saturday is the Kidney Cancer conference at Stanford.. makes it a lot better. Saw my Onc yesterday, she is pleased with my latest blood tests and the fact that I put on some weight. Overall everything is pretty darn good..! And I got a big, and I mean big bottle of pain pills. I will not run out..! I fly out early Monday morning... tight schedule..!!
I also got to wave at my Surgeon... he was busy, of course.. he was giving a new patient the pre surgery walk through.. We gave each other a wave and a thumbs up..!
I will see my Onc and my Surgeon Saturday at the conference.. will likely be able to chat then..

A little percocet does wonders for me when I need them too. I will keep an eye out for the races. Awesome.

Ron,
I had three cyberknife treatments after removal of my brain tumor. I was on the table for about an hour for each treatment and I was very lucky, no side effects! Well, did get very sleepy, but I had my husband to drive home (2 1/2 ride) so I caught my nap then. It will be a year in November since my surgery and cyberknife treatments so far everything has checked out really well!
Have a great vacation and enjoy every minute, you deserve it!
Prayers for good health!

Ron,
Cyberknife followed by moto-therapy sounds like a winner to me. Good luck and have a great time at the IOM.

Well, today is the day...no stress here.. in fact I am very calm and relaxed... Last night I finally got most of my luggage packed. 3 large roller bags... the lightest one is 52 pounds. I had to make room for the gifts for a few pals.. I get great pleasure in doing these small gifts.. I got a bunch of T shirts from good ole' Mercan dirt track races.. plus for my pal Leslie, she loves those cheesy goldfish bits.. two big boxes for her.. and some real honest Maple syrup, the good stuff for my pal Mike. And lots of trinkets for my racer pals.. Oh yes and all the race bike stuff.. an engine, tools, spare parts, engine mounting plates, two new fireproof pit suits, and the kitchen sink... no wait no sink... And then I found a little space for some clothes.. I do not take much in the way of clothes.. I will buy new T shirts there..
The only item I do not have that is important is my monthly supply of Afinitor.. it is supposed to arrive this morning.. it better, as I am out... took my last pill yesterday.. I made a stink as the drug was not on hand from the insurance Pharmacy... had to wait a full week.. not good.. Where I live, UPS is not depedable.. and I must leave here about 1 PM to make it for my Cyberknife.. It is supposed to arrive my 10 AM. We will see.. phone calls start at 10:05. Still not worried...I know how to find out where the driver is.. I will go meet him elsewhere on his route if need be..
Oh yes, and yesterday I had a big race banner made... I will add a Kidney Cancer decal to it on the IOM.
Life is good... Life is very good..!!
I do have one (recent) regret.. I wish that I would of detoured on my last trip to meet the Wedgie Man.. a lost opportunity.. sigh.. I miss him..
I hope all of you find a way to enjoy the rest of this summer.. and the year..!! I am taking my laptop with me.. so I will post somewhat.. not as often as normal.. but.. You can not get rid of me that easy...!!
Be Well All..!!

It is now later.. heh.. Over an hour late starting, then I was told it would be a 2 hour not a 45 minute treatent. No big deal.. so get this.. they strapped me down, then of course everything itches and no way to scratch.. arms are tied down..! Oh well.. had to get over that. But the Tech guy asked about music.. they had a small boom box with elevator music on.. I asked for something more lively and a bit more volume. So, what did he put on..??? Yes, 2 hours of the Beatles..! How amazing is that... I told him I was headed over the pond on Monday.. Now that I think about it.. the Doctors knew that.. maybe that was a set up...?? Ya think..?
The Cyberknife was nothing... just the sound of the machine moving all over it was cool.. well for the first 15 minutes.. then I tried to sleep.. nope.. but then I started to daydream about the trip... Yes..!!
Once the deed was done, they unstrapped me and I got up.. nothing.. nice..! They gave me a single pill steroid and a single pill for nausea. I left and had dinner nearby with a couple of pals.. got home near midnight.. need to get up at like 6 am for the Cancer Conference up at Stanford.. I may be a bit late...
I guess I can recommend Cyberknife.. it was overall very simple and easy... That said it will be 90 days for that first scan to see how good they did...

Hi Ron. I'm so happy for you that your treatment is done and it went very well. No side effects. Those are the same two pills my husband had. I'm very glad that your experience was a good one. I hope you enjoyed the conference that you attended and I am looking forward to you sharing information when you have the time. Have a great time on vacation!
Annie
Does anyone care to share where the focus was of the cyberknife treatment that they had? For my husband it was on two different vertebra with very good results. No recurrence at either site. One done 2 1/2 years ago and the other about 1 1/2 years ago. Thanks a bunch.

Well.. I was told that it is not likely Cancer will return to the same spot.. hope it does not return at all.. but we know what could happen... just gotta stay diligent..
Glad it works for so many.. I will know in 90 days... But I already have less pain, or is that me imagining it..? Seems more like pressure than pain to me now...
Cheers..!

Hi All..! So, I am in Liverpool.. waiting for the ferry... The flights were good overall, but I did make one mistake. I had no major pain since the Cyberknife on Friday, but the airplane seats plus the bumps were very painful. I only brought 3 pain pills in my carry on. This was a mistake. But I made it... my back is still pretty sore. I will not make that mistake for the ferry boat or the return flights home.
No complaints..! Happy to be here... no sign of 4 long haired guys in the local pub... I was told that I am a few decades too late...
Ron - the fun has begun..!!

Good luck
Cyberknife worked very well for my husband..After his first cyberknife , we had dinner at restaurant. Its easy treatment..But when he had external beam radiation for spine, side effects were bad..worse..He was admitted to hospital for brain swelling...it took 6 months for him to get rid of decadron..

Hey Ron, so happy to hear you came thru like a champ! You are the man!! I am thrilled to see you made your journey over the pond and are having a good time. You deserve it. I don't know much about why you are there but if it's a race, my bet is on you. If races had cheerleaders, I'd be yours!!
Stay safe, keep taking those pills and savor every moment of this trip. I'll be watching for updates.

You sure are a trooper, Ron! I somehow missed that you were going away to England! What a trek! Are you sure your back isn't hurting from all the heavy luggage??
I hope the pain disappears very soon. Enjoy England. I have always wanted to go there.
