Vitamin D
I am 71 and have had CLL since I was 62. Initially my WBC count was 12.3, but for the last 4 years has remained at about 19-21. Four years ago I read an article in the MAYO Clinic newsletter about a study on the effects of vitamin D on CLL. When Vitamin D levels are normal, in about 48 percent of the people the increase in the WBC count had been reduced significantly. The WBC count does not go down , it just doen't go up as fast. I immediately went to my regular Doctor. Sure enough, my Vitamin D level was low. He prescribed 2000 I.U's per day and now my Vitamin D level is normal. This may or may not be a coincidence, but my WBC count has not gone up in 4 years. Needless to say I am very happy and my hemotologist only needs to see me 1 or 2 times a year.

Thank you Bill for posting. I
Thank you Bill for posting. I find this very interesting and I will ask my doctor when I go for a physical in September. My numbers are about the same range as yours. I was diagnosed in 2012 at age 63.

Vitamin D and additional supplement support
Hi Bill,
I am 46 and recently diagnosed with CLL and SLL....My Dr. too, advised Vitamin D as well as Folic Acid, my iron for my anemia and a daily multi vitamin. I also take B12 daily and an important one for maintaining healthy liver function is Milk Thistle! I'm not sure which has helped bring my WBC count back to normal (from an initial 14.2, I am currently at 10.7!) but the "Cocktail" combination is working! I have a friend who's getting her Masters in Hollistic Nutrition and she also advised that I take Taurine and L glutamine...Look them up! Just thought I'd pass on a little more and I'm so happy you are improving
Best,
Kristin
