Summer plans?
I am heading to San Diego soon. In August, Danny and I are heading to an inn in NH owned and run by his younger brother. Looking for ways to escape this awful heat. What are your plans for summer vacation?

We are going with friends
We are going with friends down to the Lancaster, PA, area for a few days the end of this month. We will feast. We will golf -- not me, as I am still working on getting back into doing some of that. We will see "Moses" at Sight & Sound.
We will head out to Ohio to visit my parents (age 91) for a few days. We will have friends and family here at our house.
I like to use my time off (educator) to catch up with friends I rarely can see because I live 45-60 minutes away from them. We meet for lunch and chat. I live in NYS, and we just finished school last week.
I always have undone spring cleaning to do as well as other projects around the house. I have to be in the mood for those. That tends to be what I save for a rainy day.
Guess that's about it.

Diagnosed on July 3rd.....when is your surgery scheduled? We will all have you in prayer and send you many hugs. I only had a lumpectomy but did have 3 surgeries (lumpectomy/then one to implant the Port O Cath/then years later one to remove the Port O Cath).........and I know how afraid I was before each and every one of them. The first two were in 2002 ... the last one was in 2007 I think it was)..... but I am still here. Chemo and radiation and lots of shots and blood work and scans etc etc....but I tell you this because the surgeons and oncologists are wonderful. The radiologists and nurses....and all the other women who have faced and are facing this disease. We send you hope.... and love. xxoo Glo

Staying Homecamul said:Going to California next Friday
to see my family next week and spending time with my brothers who are visiting here. So, my boys and I will be fishing with them (on the good days).Due to my cancer DX in Dec.2013, and all of the surgeries I have had, chemo and ect., Husband having knee replacement surgery July16, and I have to have surgery again August 11th we have no choice to stay home. I guess we can say our plans have and will be spending our summer in medical care and taking care of each other. One thing for sure, I am thankful to be alive.

My husband took me to Bermuda for a suprise trip for our anniversary. We go to New Hampshire every summer too.

I have the best oncologist...
She arranged my chemo treatments so that I may go on vacation my birthday week (the 1st week of August). My sister and I are going to Hershey Pa and do all the tourist things. I am so excited.

summer plans
Like a few others, my summer vacation has been dampened with medical plans...ugh!!! In between surgeries, I'm trying to do weekend activities - so summer doesn't feel like a total waste. With having the worst winter in the Midwest that I can remember (polar vortex), and this summer being extremely cool and wet - I am so wanting to get out and enjoy myself but it is hard because of our inclement weather this year...So, we plan our weekends with alternate plans.
Cynthia, ‘I’m green with envy’ that you get the opportunity to meet with a few of our ‘pink-sisters’ in California; I wish I too could make the trip…J That would be so awesome…Hope you have a Great Time – you deserve it!!!

Been thinking of you Pixie, has hubby come home from the hospital yet or will he be going to a transitional care unit for awhile? A friend of ours had both knees replaced last Nov and Dec and says he's still improving, so tell hubby he'll need patience.
What surgery are you having Aug 11?

plans change daily
I'm grateful we took our vacation in February before I was diagnosed. We spent 2 weeks in Arizona, one with a birding group in Sierra Vista and the second week we stayed with friends at Lake Havasu. It was a much needed break from our difficult North Dakota winter.
We'd planned on taking a mini trip in August to the Pyrotechnics Convention in Iowa, stopping to see my Dad in Minneapolis along the way and going on a dinner cruise with him in Wisconsin, and then visiting a college friend in Sioux Falls, SD on the way home. The Pyrotechnics Convention part of the trip involved camping in our tent, don't think I'm going to be up to that in the middle of my chemo treatments, but maybe we'll be able to see Dad and do the dinner cruise part.
Current decision is whether to go this weekend to mother-in-law's 92nd birthday party lunch. We'd drive and return the same day, 2 1/2 hrs each way, which I think I can handle if I'm not feeling any worse than I am now. I get my first blood count results this afternoon and think we'll use those to make the final decision, I'm more concerned about what snotty nosed gt grandchildren might also be at the lunch. I'm thinking if my counts are good we'll go, and I'll just be very careful with my handwashing and keeping hands away from my face.
