second opinion
well we went for our second opinion and this dr stopped the new chemo right away..said his scan looks good..he is concerned about the one node but said a 6 weeksscan is really early ...but he just wants my hunny to heal and get stronger and get a new scan in 6 weeks and go from there..he felt pretty confident his scan would be clear next time around! he also did some blood work to check his thryoid as he feels like that might be why he is dragging aound!! he said the dr we were seeing only sees limited numbers of head/neck patients so he isn't real familiar with them...wth...why didn't he tell us that or refer us..gahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! thanks to everyone who encouraged us to get a second opinion!

Drs. always say
"they are open to second opinions"......I believe they have their fingers crossed behind their backs when they say that.....
Six weeks was WAY early for a scan.....the majority of Drs. wait three months, and some a little longer in order to not pick up on a bunch of inflamed tissue from getting cooked for 6 or 7 weeks. Glad you went ahead and got another Dr. in on it.

Glad you got the 2nd opinion
I'm glad this is looking better with the 2nd doctor. My lung doctor found mine when he tried to go down my throat to get to my lungs, but never made it past the vocal cords. Was going to send me to a local ENT, because he had to get me to the right type of doctor. We talked and I said the local doctor was just a wast of time because he takes out tonsels and this was not tonsils. I needed to go to someone who would be doing the surgery and he agreed I need to go to a medical center, the local doctor would not be doing the surgery. I'm glad we talked and both understood what needed to be done. He made the call and I was at Stanford the next week. Funny, it was going to take four weeks to see the local ENT.
The thyroid can take some time to get dialed in, but if it is low he will feel better very soon. I've been on thyroid for over 50 years and it real easy and not much money for the meds. Sending prayers your way.

AWESOME!!
That's better than great news; let's hear it for second opinions, congratulations! Way back when -- I reluctantly, to satisfy my best half, Diane, went for a second ENT opinion regarding the chronic triad (ear, throat, tongue) of excruciating pain (which I unknowingly referred to as the Beast) that I had been suffering from for numerous months. It was the second doc who correctly diagonosed my BOT, and literally saved my life. Keep it mov'in forward.
