Hard core
For a while I was addicted to this one tv show my kids love d to ask me what I was watching even though they knew the answer. I would innocently tell them I was watching "Hardcore Porn " when it was really Hardcore Pawn ! My chemo brain would always shout out the wrong answer but to my knowledge no one took off their clothes on the show!

It is real!
I just want to confirm that chemo brain is REAL! I can't think of anything particularly humorous (maybe because of the chemo brain???) but oh, so many times I've stammered and stuttered, unable to speak a coherent thought. Of course, this usually happens at work, where it would be nice if folks thought I was intelligent. It is real.

Need a calendar for sure.
I have a hard time keeping things straight so I try my best to use a calendar. That only works if you put something on the right date or you read the calendar the right way. I have missed many appointments or gone on the wrong day. I have a very understanding family they work hard at keeping me up to date as to what is coming up and sometimes call me the day of.
I also have problems saying what I want to say. I many times look at my husband for help with the word. I can usually tell you what the thing does but can't remember the name of something. The nurse in charge of my chemo once told me there is no such thing as chemo brain. Surely she has never had chemo. he he

I'm with you, girls.
One day I "shampooed" my hair in the shower with conditioner. I make coffee for my mom and myself every morning. I use Splenda and she uses sugar. Many times either she or I get both and the other gets none. I also have accidentally put my fiber in her cup. Shhhh, she doesn't know. I use my phone for an alarm and set the wrong time. The strange part is I continued getting ready, checking the time, until I finally realized I needed to be where I needed to be at that very moment but the place I needed to be was 30 miles away. The other day I had an appointment out of town. I needed to leave by 12:45 but for some reason when the clock said 12:15 I left. I noticed the time as I drove out of town and was thrown for a moment until I realized I left too soon. Oh, I almost sprayed my hair with deodorant. Throughout the day there are so many instances of befuddlement, I should jot them down.

Chemo Fog.
Like you Val, I had shoe mistake - went to a concert and at intervel I noticed
I had odd shoes, a different one on each foot. I also remember receiving a free
cosmetic gift, went home and decided to try the mascara, leant over to the mirror
and realised I had forgotten I had no eyelashes!
My oncology nurse said that there WAS such a thing as "chemo fog".

I have been dealing with stroke brain for 12 yrs - very similar - so I already had notebook - stickey notes & coping skills
at mt first chemo - said something "stupid" to the nurse and asked her to excuse me - I hav stroke brain -- she replied - just wait until you add chemo brain to it
she was right - up until then I was only mildly '"stupid" & once I developed Chemo brain as well - I did ger stupider & more unaware of my surroundings - in a daze all the time
sometimes I say yjthemost embarrassing - stupid things - not nasty - - just out to lunch.
I' hoping it fades as time away from xhemo increases - it gves hubby & I something to laugh at

Me, tooscatsm said:I couldn't find my keys
Only to find them in the car, with the car running after going to the grocery store, to have chemo, you name it...it happened a lot. I thought I was going out of my mind, which indeed I was! I can't believe no one stole it.
My husband and I went shopping at our local food coop. When I got out of the car, I realized I was wearing my house slippers. this was in late winter. Luckily they were plastic soled with boiled wool uppers so they looked kinda like clogs. Good thing I don't wear fluffy pink mules.

Last wednesday my husband and i were at our clinic to see our family doctor usually we have appointments right after each other. So we stopped by the desk for check in. My last name is double (maiden + his) My husband started to talk to lady for him and for me i saw she had a hard time with ours last names. So i told her sorry for confusing you She smiled and answered me ( i like to be confused once in a while ) i started laughing and told her i'm confused all the time after seven years of chemo and chemo brain.
