It is more than cellulitus
Saw new ENT Thursday who delivered not so good news. The fibula they used to rebuild my jaw 2 1/2 years ago is dead. Will have bone scan to see if all or part is bad. It is exposed inside with no good blood supply. Also, my left vocal cord is paralyized. Don't know how long it has been that way. He said they will remove bone and replace with tissue from my chest. Cosmetically shouldn't be too bad but will be on soft foods remainder of my life. Said quality of life about what it is now. With the cellulitus, I have been mostly doing Ensure and soft foods and have lost ten more pounds. Am increasing the Ensure. Once I get the bone scan, I will consult Mayo to see if they concur or have another option.
Trying not to get too discouraged. No cancer, no chemo, no rads. Oh yeah, the PET and CT wording have officially been changed to rule out the spot behind clavical being suspect.

stay happy
Candi,
Not to cheery news, except no cancer and no treatments, thank goodness.
You have got good friends and family to help brighten your day. You will find your way through these challenges and be happy.
Anyway, soft food is highly underrated. Some of my favorites are soft.
My most heartfelt good wishes go out to you.

Well.....crap!
although I can't help but hang on to the words "NO CANCER".....I was nervous opening up this post.
I'm with Matt on soft food, they are underated.....98% of what I eat is soft and wet, after almost two years.....I'm just sorry you have to go through the surgery again.....I'm glad you've got Mayo to confer with.....they're so up on every thing. Is the vocal cord thing from all the rads?
Hugs, Candi.....keeping you in my prayers and thoughts......you're one tough cookie....I look up to you a lot!
