Can't seem to get it together

Hi, I've been cancer free for 1.5 years now, and I still can't seem to find joy.  I am afraid of everything, and I'm sabotaging my life.  When does the joy return?  Please help, I feel like I'm going crazy.

    Hi Deb and welcome to the site.  You'll find caring and understanding people here.  I mentioned in recent posts that one of the things I think they leave out in cancer care is psychological follow up.  Most of us can understand how you feel and you are not alone.  A member here, Rocquie recently discussed similar issues.  She went on a retreat called "BlueBird" with the Amercian Cancer Society and think that has helped her some.  I'm sure you will hear from her.

    Jeff's suggestions are good.  I think your reaction is very normal and it's okay to be afraid after what you have been through.  You are dealing with "the new you" after cancer and that can be difficult.  You're not going crazy :).  Come here and talk.  Let us know more about you.  it would be helpful if you completed the "about me" section on your profile so we have a little history on you.  When you feel up to it, you can offer support here also.  You'd be surprised how much that can help sometimes.

    I am very thankful you are cancer free.  You've come a long way.  Don't be too hard on yourself for being human and the fact you are still processing what you have been through.  it's been almost 3 years for me and I am different.  I'm not as adventurous or daring as I used to be - not that I was ever a daredevil ;).

    I can only speak for myself. I get happiness from fun things this world has to offer. It's ok, but fleeting. My joy comes from the Lord. If that doesn't work for you, try spending time helping those that are sick and downtrodden. Sometimes that can make you feel good.  There are lots of programs that could use volunteers. Of course counseling is probably a good idea as well. I wish you luck.
