What a week!!!!

in Colorectal Cancer #1

Well last weekna developed anbad case of the flu rightbwhen i had to start my next cycle of Xeloda. Xeloda and the flu is a bad combination. I managed to get through all of the Xeloda and recovered from the flu just in time for me to go to the hospital. So i spent to days in the hospital. The first day was for a liver biopsy and the second day was for the y90 mapping proceedure. I am finally going home today feeling a little whiped out. Hopefully i will be up to some mountain biking and motorcycle riding thia weekend.

    What a time you have had. I am glad that the flu is over, and the mapping too. I hope you do feel well enough for a bit of mountain biking or motor biking (a little less strenuous), but DON'T push it; your body may just need a little rest.  

    How soon before you get the Y90? I want it on my calander.

    I hope it goes really well for you.  But maybe take it a little easy this weekend, given all you've been through!*

     

    *realize I'm probably saying this to the wrong guy...Jeff take it easy??  Not likely!

    So glad that much is behind you. It seems unfair that we get normal things like the flu, too.:). I will be praying.

    Please be gentle with yourself this weekend...I know it is how you relax but...enjoy with caution.

    I am really going to try to listen to my body and take it easy. Funny thing is i always feel kind of depressed after a hospital stay.

    mom's home remedy...

    Around our house, the Rx for very severe virus is several IV vitamin C at ~1 gram per kg, beta glucans like PSK or WGP, and lots of vitamin D, like 50,000 iu a day vit D for several days.   

    That would be us getting sick with whatever, she's already doing the IV vit C and D etc, and simply not getting sick like any of the rest. Her basic guide for spacing of the next IV vit C,  long term treatment,  has been the onset of allergies and itchiness to fumes, pollen etc.   Frequent IV vitamin C was also very helpful in suppressing 5FU toxicity symptoms, a phenomenon recorded by other others.

    I love your ambition.   You might want to rest a bit, biking can be dangerous, if I recall correctly LOL.

    So glad your feeling better

    i think just getting out of the hospital makes you feel better.  I am sure you will get more rest now.  Try to take it easy, and I'm sure you are looking forward to surgery and getting it over with.

    Fortunately it rained real

    Fortunately it rained real hard last night so mountain biking is out. I am going to give myself one more day of rest.

    Interestingly during the months...

    ...I was on chemo everybody got the flu but me. And I was supposed to have the week immune system. Go figure.

    Funny thing is i never really

    Funny thing is i never really get sick either. Like you everyone in my office would get sick a couple of times a year but i never would get sick. In fact i never never get a flu shot and the last time i had the flu was before i was diagnosed with cancer. I think i had a relapse yesturday. I got all shakey weak and chills so i decided to take it easy all weekend. I have to make sure i am healthy for the y90 injection followed by my trip to Seattle.

    I feel really good today and

    I feel really good today and back to work. I lost some weight from being sick and having to fast for each of the 2 proceedures. I am eatin a hight protien diet for now. I usually eat only a vegetable based diet with some protien but I feel it is very important to maintain a healthy weight. So I got to do what I got to do LOL. I am hoping to ease back into my outdoor activities this week but am going to listen to my body.

    I never got sick

    the entire time I had active cancer and was in tx.  That's weird. I wonder if that is common and if so, what it means?
