Doctor just called. Today's scan reports are BAD! I am beyond TERRIFIED!!
My dr. just called.
I had a node come up in my neck, so he also ordered scans of it today. There is node activity in my neck. Also, they found a suspcious spot in the pons of my lower brain. He is scheduling an MRI for asap. He said if it has metasized there that he will do radiation.
Also, I now have two spots in my liver. He is most concerned about that. He is taking me off gemzar and I will be taking vinorelbine most likely.
He is leaving to go out of town for 2 weeks. However, he said he has a list of patients, including me whom he will be checking on. He is not going to start a new chemo until I have the brain mri.
He says I shouldn't flip out yet nor give up hope. How do I calm down? How?
I live alone so I am sitting her bawling my eyes out.
thanks ladies. I know all of you understand.

Don't panic....you need a plan.
I know what you have heard today is scary...beyond scary...but you and you doctor will come up with a plan. Once you know what to expect, you will change into survival mode. Just try to get through tonight, then tomorrow, then the next day. You only have today in front of you, and today you are here. Is there someone you can call to come over? Or talk to on the phone? It's even ok to cry...get it all out, then pull yourself together and fight! I would trust your doc when he says not to panic. Together you will come up with a treatment plan. Come back here often to let us know how you are. my supportive thoughts and prayers are with you.

Carla, we are all here for you
I'm sorry about the bad news. Ovarian mets to the brain are extremely rare, I hope brain MRI will rule it out.
I agree with Susan, once you and your doctor determine the plan of action, you will get into the fighting mode and feel much better.
Sending you love and warm thoughts,
Alexandra

I know just how scared you must be feeling but your doctor is right to tell you not to give up hope. At this point, I know it is impossible for you to see the light at the end of the tunnel but it is still there. And it's okay to feel terrified and to cry your eyes out, to give yourself time to react to the news. But please know that you are not alone. We are all here for you and I'm pissed off that your cancer has done this to you. You are a strong woman, Carla. Tomorrow truly is another day and I know you will put your big girl panties on when you need to and be ready to fight this beast.
Sending lots of positive thoughts and energy your way.
Warm hugs,
Kelly

I understand the terrifying
I understand the terrifying fear of the unknown. My therapist tells me when I have a bad thought or start to freak out you have to first identify that you are thinking negatively or freaking out then replace it with a calming, reassuring positive thought like at least I have my family on my side or maybe a motivational phrase. I just picture spraying the negative thought away with a spray bottle and replacing it with something good or telling myself I am not there yet dont jump the gun. It works, sometimes. I have xzanax for the other times it doesn't work. Keep your head up and try to be positive.

That is difficult news. It is
That is difficult news. It is a lot to deal with. I'm sorry you are dealing with it alone right now. Is there anyone you can call to be with you. Sometimes, just not being alone helps. Take one day at a time. Try to do guided meditation to help your anxiety and distract your mind. I would also start walking short distances a day. Exercise helps. Wishing you the best. Kim

My sister came and stayed with me. WE also went out for supper. She's going to go with me Thurs. for my MRI. I wish no one ever had to deal with this dreadful disease. Thanks for all the support. I usually try to take a few short walks each day. However, we have been having a whole lot of rain the past couple of weeks. I'll start back again though.

I'm glad your sister came. It is always better to have someone help share your load. WE have had a lot of rain too. My husband has taught me how to enjoy my walk in the rain. Kim
