CEA blahs
Well, I've been getting "under 1.0" CEA since my last surgery in February 2014, testing on a monthly basis. Went in for a test this morning and it came back as 2.0. Nothing to do except wait until next month and see if it goes up again or possibly goes down...
I know that under 3.0 is normal. However, in my case CEA is very strongly correlated cancer in liver. It went from under 1, to 2, to 3 when they discovered the last tumor in my liver resulting in my second liver resection on February 7.
I'm feeling good right now and I suppose that should be my focus...
I'm sure many of you can relate. It's hard to focus on the right things sometimes. I'm sad. Was hoping to see more "under 1.0" scores.
Love and Light to you all.
Philip

Your right, it is always hard
Your right, it is always hard to focus on living in the present and not worrying about the future. It is human nature but it is especially hard when you/we are dealing with cancer.
BTW great picture.
Keep the faith.

it is hard, Phil. My CEA, also a good marker for me, has been hovering at 5. 6 with clear scan. Hard to have a carefree attitude with fluctuating numbers. Prayers that all is well and we both know there are a lot of mitigating circumstances when it come to CEA.
Take a deep breath and enjoy living.

Darn that CEA
But really, we are grateful for it. Without it, I know my liver met would not have been found until it was too late, as my CT Scan showed nothing, yet the tumour was 2.2 cm.
So, I'm with you on the CEA waiting list. In fact I had my blood taken this morning, for my monthly CEA check. My last one was 8 and I'm hoping that it has gone down.
And I just have to say I ADORE your new photo. What a handsome couple.
Cyber hugs and prayers.

CEA - our friend, our enemy
Phil,
I totally get it. That darn number can screw with your mind. Now you know there are many things that can make this flux. It is one of the ways we manage our life and health at this point.
You feel good right now.......... this speaks volumes.
By the way, love the new picture - all smiles -- keep it that way!

Darn!
Those number makes everyone worry! Try not to worry (I know, it's easy for me to say) and enjoy life!

Labs
Some labs can fluctuate from day to day and even the testing labs can be different. Seems a small increase but if it is a good marker for you then can understand your worry. Hopefully next month it will go down. By the way, love your new picture.

CEA was never an indicator
CEA was never an indicator for me. It has always been at 1 or lower. It's good and bad. I suppose the bad is I dont have any warning of new activity other than scans. The good is that it is one less thing for me to stress out over.
