    Feeling

Last night I was curled in a ball on the floor crying, waiting for the pain pills to give me relief from the stomach pain. Hopefully it will get better soon!!!  The slim look is due to that wrong prescription from CVS Pharmacy which messed up my stomach royally.  I just found out Friday that the past three hospitalizations (3 in 30 days) due to my stomach was all possible fallout from those wrong meds.  YIKES!!!

Any rate on a bunch of pills that are supposed to make it all better at some point, looking forward to that point :)

    Your Garden

I still think about you and your garden.  There is a fix for the chatroom posted in the tech discussion board below our boards. Sash. Tasha, soul=mate and I have been popping in and out as people try to get it on .  While it is not the answer for some, many have been successful and I would LOVE to talk to you again!

    Never far from my thougts

    My CEA has been hovering

My CEA has been hovering between 8 - 10 the last 8 mos. Two clear Pet scans.  You have such a great attitude...enjoy the clear scans.  A trip home to England just has to happen. Prayers that all will be well    and you can celebrate with a plane ticket.

    Hugs,

    CM

    I'm itching

I really am itching to book my ticket. Doc doesn't want me to, at least until after next weeks CEA blood work.

The best thing is. my ticket is free.

We love our garden also.  It keeps me in a happy place.  Every time We or I work on the garden I find inner peace.

There was just a good news article from a doctor stating that we are on to many meds.  He stated that after 5 meds the interactios can be so great that most Doctors can not tell the patient if they are reacting to the meds, or the interactions.  Perscribing additional meds to reduce symptoms, and therefore posibly reducing meds effectiveness, and the spiral in our health.

We are sending our thoughts and prayers for continued strength.

    Best Always,

    what happened?

Hi Winter - I was reading your post, and I think the same thing happened to me. Since I got the adrenal mets, I've had to take painkillers, and three different ones made me sick. Over the course of three months, I took ativan, vicodin (with an NSAID), and Nucynta (all at different times), and all three kept me from eating. I got this gag reflex and would projectile vomit a lot. I couldn't keep food down; I think I also had no appetite. Altogether I was probably living on 300-500 calories a day. It was only when I switched to oxycodone that the vomiting stopped and I had an "aha" moment.

Meantime I had a stomach scope from a gastroenterologist, and saw several doctors.  none of them attributed the problem to painkiller - they gave me antacids as I showed signs of gastritis, and anti vomiting meds (which didn't work).  I ended up losing 40 lbs; I joke around with my friends about how very American it is for me  to be happy about this (but I am and I look really good. Sigh).  Taking pics is a good idea!

Is this what happened to you? What meds made you sick?

I asked the docs if it the painkillers could have caused all of my problems, and they couldn't say for sure.   I would like to know the cause , but at this point I don't care because I can eat again.  I'm not entirely back to normal but at least the puking has stopped. It was pretty awful.

glad you're better; take good care.

    Karin

    Happy Thoughts!

I hope the CEA levels drop and you heal quickly. A trip home sounds like a great way to celebrate.

    scans

In my case CT Scans showed a normal liver. MRI showed the tumors on the liver. Thank goodness my onc ordered the MRI due to rising CEA as it likely saved my life.

I will continue to share this with you all because I truly do believe that the doctors have to use all scans to try and mitigate the fact that they are NOT perfect technologies and the combination of them sometimes makes a big difference.

I was 3 months on folfox,

I was 3 months on folfox, then liver resection planned. Surgeon didn't want to do surgery because chemo got rid of mets, ONC told him to do surgery. Surgeon said he would do his own scan.  He did an MRI and he found another met that the pet and CT didn't. When he did surgery he found  the mets in the liver.   He couldn't find the third one. He decided to take 10% more to try and find it.  He would not do more or I could die on the table. There was the met. The only thing he wasn't sure of was a clear margin.  I finished with 3 more months of mop up chemo. CEA was at 2.

6 years later I have a met again to the liver And two in the lungs.  Trying different chemos now. My CEA is up past 400.  It jumped fast.  I would be sure you are having your CEA checked in those 3 months.

    Take care and stay strong.

So sorry to hear this news

I am sorry to hear of your continued struggle, Nana.

I am having my CEA checked every month. I had my last one done on Thursday, so should get the results Monday or Tuesday.

Good luck with your new chemo regime.

    It's gone down, again. YAYYYYYY!

I have just picked up my CEA results and it has gone down from my post surgery 8.1 to 6.7.

I know its not a big drop, and I fear my Oncologist will not think it has dropped enough, but its dropped and so I am happy.

I will call the Oncologist office now and make sure the results are there (they never are), and then I will make sure my Dr. gets them and reads them.

My next test is in three weeks.

    Happy day!

With your CEA going down, i'm sure you will be back in "Merry old England" before long.  Have a great trip.
