Feeling calmer!

Hi everyone,

Well, at last I'm feeling calmer about the fact that they think my husband has colon cancer. His CT scan is next Wed and on Friday we meet with the surgeon. You'd think I'd be used to extreme circumstnnces because of my husband's multiple serious medical issues over the years leading to open heart surgery, seizures, arrhythmia issues, stents and prostate cancer. The prostate cancer was caught early and with surgery it was removed and he needed no more treatment. But this colon cancer diagnosis just blew me away because his polyps were benign 4 years ago. I expected the possibility of more polyps but never dreamed that the nurse would tell me that they found cancer but will have to wait for the biopsy results. My husband is strong and very used to medical issues and serious problems but man, I just was devastated, although I tried not to show it to him. My stomach has been nauseous and I'm over-eating and just a mess. My main feeling is that I feel so bad for my husband and would gladly go through it for him, if I could. He's just been through so much.

But as the days rolled on, I'm calmer now and ready to go through this new journey and challenge with him. In a week we'll have the strategies laid before us but I know I can get through this. And today I stoped overeating. Yayyyyyyyyyy!!!!

Meanwhile - my husband is a saint. :)

    Its OK

Really, even with your husbands multiple medical issues, it is not abnormal to be shocked by another Cancer diagnosis.

I am glad that you are feeling better in yourself, and especially getting back to a normal eating pattern, which will help your nausea.

Remember we're here for you and hubby.

Recovery from a prostatectomy is difficult for most all men, that I know, who have gone through it.

You may find that there will be challenges with this current diagnosis of CRC.

It seems to me that you are both fighters...and that is a good thing, IMHO.

Come back soon or as often as you may want to share, vent and have a good cry.

    Blessings of strength and peace.

    Hey thanks,

Thanks, Bob. I laughed my head off at your username - fatbob!! Hilarious. I wish you all the best, too and I'll keep you in my prayers.

For some reason my husband sailed through his prostate surgery - it was laparoscopic and only required a 2 day stay in the hospital. He had very little pain and was working out on the treadmill the next day after they released him. It was pretty amazing and since they caught it early, he had no further treatment.

We just don't know anything yet as his CT scan is Wed and we meet with the surgeon Friday. All we know is that there is a tumor and the doctor said that even if it's benign it has to come out. So we know he needs surgery. It was the nurse who told me it's cancer. So it's a waiting game right now.

Yep, we're both fighters and have been through so much already. Or actually, my husband has been through so much and I admire his strength and courage. I'm the worrier of the family.

I wish you all the best and thanks for your kind words.
