Foreign Objects Found in Our Bodies
Am I the only one? This is upside down (sorry about that) but here is the mysterious metal disc they found and the whole hospital wing was a buzz over my little disc.

WOW! I have heard of this
WOW! I have heard of this happening, but not to anyone I know in a long time. I had a co-worker 25 years ago whom had a surgical pad left behind in his nose. It went to infection and then he had it removed. He got a Corvette out of it. lol
I hope all goes well for the removal of what ever that is. We are sending our thoughts and prayers for a positive outcome.
Best Always, mike

What on earth???
I see some of your medical bills being paid off soon. Can we say lawsuit!
I hope they get this sorted soon. And I know you'll keep us posted.
Is there a possiblility that is was external? Something on your hospital gown? I would hate to have some foreign object that size inside of me.

At least it wasn't an alien barcode... (Scully had one of these, as did many other women who had been abducted - XFiles subplot)
But seriously, what is/was it? It looks like one of those property tags for a piece of hospital equipment. Smaller equipment usually gets stickers; the large stuff gets metal plates. Holy crap - that was taken from inside of you? How in the world could the surgical team have missed this? I'm picturing the plate falling off of a light or a robotic surgery arm that just happened to be positioned over your open body cavity - maybe at that precise moment during surgery, there was a hospital loudspeaker announcement, or election results came in, or a sports team won a major event, causing the whole surgical team to become distracted and not notice what fell into you.. If it was 9/11 then you have a good story to tell.
yikes. well, glad they found it and that you're OK.

the things we have inside
right side in the pic (my left side) - just above the hip. a little bit of plastic tubing. i believe this to be from the forceful removal of the sump in my abdomenon the day of my departure from the hospital after my first surgery. the tubing would not come out - caused me quite a bit of pain. keep in mind i was high as a kite on morphine. i believe this bit was stuck fast. the intern who took it out threw the whole thing in the trash in the day room that was where i was when he pulled it out. so wrong on many levels. i also believe this inclusion caused the fluid build up in my abdomen (1.5 liters) and possibly either directly or indirectly caused my left side kidney failure. sometimes life sucks.
but life goes on and life is good...

kind of like the sinefeld episode where kramer drops candy into a patient from a gallery where he is watching the surgery.

Wow! Wow! Wow!
That's crazy! So true, they owe you a lifetimes of free medical services at that place. The problem is, is it worth taking precious time out of your day to follow up on a lawsuit? Sometimes, life is too short and it's not worth it. My brother had surgery to rmove clots from his lungs and they left in a wire that ended up causing fluid buildup around his heart, which lead to another surgery (and they feel a mild heart attack). I thought of suing, my time with my brother is way too precious. I made formal complaints, but I don't have the strength or desire to fight a lawsuit.
Have they figured out what it was and where it came from? I hope it didn't cause any problems for you.

And then again...just the THREAT of a lawsuit can do wonders... Never underestimate the effect of an angry woman. I know.

just curiousWinter Marie,
just curious as as to how you are dong and what came of this issue.
I haven't had another ct scan yet, so don't know on that part.
As for myself, I've had a pretty miserable month or so, lots of pain, etc., but on the good side, I'm still here , still have laughter, so all is still good.
I have surgery for my spleen on Thursday, saying goodbye to apparently another body part, have to be at hospital at 5:15 AM, OMGosh, hope to wake up to get there in time, LOL.
How are you?

Oh, it's tomorrow!! I guess I lost a week, thought your surgery was next Thursday. In any case, best wishes for a very successful surgery and also that the pain will go away soon.
All my best,
Cynthia
