Shortness of breath
I've just had my second round of carbo/gemzar/avastin for a first recurrence. I am so short of breath, I can hardly walk from one room to the next. I talked to my gyn/onc's nurse who was unconcerned and said it is a side effect of all the meds. My bloodwork was ok enough to do the chemo...hemoglobin was 9.2 and white blood cells were all ok...it is so uncomfortable however and I have never had this sensation before....Has anyone experiencd this?

if you still have it call your Doctor! Your hemoglobin seems a bit low to me. Hope you are feeling better this Sunday morning. Rest and get plenty of liquids. Stay strong girlfriend..Val

Shortness of breath
Susan, shortness of breath is listed as a dangerous side effect of both Carboplatin and Avastin. I think you need to call your doctor immediately.
I get out of breath a lot, mostly when climbing stairs; but for me is not a new symptom and I am a lifetime smoker.

I agree with Val and Alexandra about calling your doctor. You don't want to mess around with shortness of breath, especially if it is very uncomfortable for you.

Thanks for the input. I'm getting a chest xray and ekg today and meeting with my primary care physician...made it through the weekend, but still very uncomfortable, but who said chemo was easy?

Well that explains it....will have transfusions in the next couple of days...started a blood thinner, on a new antibiotic...should be fine just in time to do it all over again!
Tell that nurse she sucks for me..you don't dismiss any symtoms and blame it n chemo. So sorry..hope you will feel better very soon.....hugs..val0 -
