I heard about that on the news. I'm new to this journey -diagnosed in January- and not yet familiar w terms.  Would Morcellation used be in any laproscopy hysterectomy?

Do you know if the concern applies to hysterectomies done because cancer has already been diagnosed or only for fibroids?  I had laproscopy hysterectomy in Feb and now FDA warning about it!

If I recall correctly, Liz Grrr had that done and, as a result, had to have more extensive treatment afterwards.  We haven't heard from her in awhile.  Hope she's doing well-funny and entertaining lady.

I had gone in for a partial hysterectomy because of a problem I had with fibroids.  I had the morcellation procedure done.  Two days later the path report showed one of "fibroids" was uterine cancer.   Since the morcellation basically chopped up my uterus while it was still inside me, it also chopped up the cancer.  When I went back in for a complete hysterecomy, the doctor found cancerous tissue my pelvic cavity. 

I was told this never happens.... now since this is coming to light, it's a lot more woman than I thought.  My heart is broked that other women had to endure this.    

That was pretty much Liz's story I think.  Hopefully this procedure will cease.  Even having this happen to a handful of women would be too many.  I'm a nurse and I wouldn't have anticipated the danger.  Of course, I never worked in the gyn field.  I've learned so much about below the belt cancer since it found me, mostly from other women.  We are our best advocates.
