Friends, end week three and bit of a sore throat. Been issued with co codemol (don't need just yet) but also benzymadine and gel clair which are a mouth wash and something that put a coating on your mouth for ulcers. Any knowledge of these products? Cheers, G.

I had to look these up, too :)

Looks like Gelclair is for mouth sores, and it appears that it works well.  Wish someone had been offering it to me when I was doing the 5FU.

The doctor has issued me with a stack of meds. She said it was a savage irony that people often seem to need them of a weekend when help is harder to access (although I have a 24 hour specialist nurse line). Very caring. Ive only got bit of a sore mouth and throat one side where they ate zapping me. Taste buds still intact. Nice to have reassurance on hand if it go's wonky. Which Im sure it will at some point! Thanks for always being there. G.

    Well....it is a fact that

if something is going to get wonky....like the appearance of mouth sores, or sore throat gets really bad, it will happen on a Sat. morning so you have to wait the longest amount of time before being able to voice your woes to a professional.

I wonder if that other stuff is what we call Magic Mouthwash.....it numbs the mouth and throat for 15 or 20 minutes in order to get pills and food down.

Could well be. Just got its clinical name on the bottle. I think that's its active ingredient. I may have to crack it open next week (4). Still managing to eat meat, bread etc. But have cupboard full if soft foods and meds!

    Hey Guzzle

I'm thinking these products are similar to what we all have used for issues with swallowing and pain.  I used the magic mouth wash, and also a product that would coat my mouth before rads.  Use them if you got 'em.  So glad to hear tx's are going well.  My brother is a few weeks behind you.  Just started last week.  Kind of watching your progress for him.  (I know everyone is a bit different)  Keep up the great work, before you know it, it'll be all behind you.  Hugs sent !  Katie

Katie, just started with a bit of throat pain but up until now everything has been absolutely fine. Best wishes to your brother. G.
