I am 2 years out of treatment for NPC and still can't open my mouth big enough to eat a sandwich.  I was aware trismus comes with the rad treatmeant so I exercise daily with a TheraBite device  but not really helping much.  My question is  if I need a tooth pulled how does the dentist extract it when I can't open wide enough?

CB, that's a very good question.  I'm sure someone with the same problem will chime in.  I just wanted to say i hope the situation gets better for you.

    Trismus

I also have trismus. Have been to the dentist for cleanings, etc. Difficult but get through it. It was extremely difficult getting the mold in for my temporary denture. I think in the end he used a child's mold.

    HOPE

    Hey CB,

I don't have exeperience in the area, but no doubt, there are others here who can give you the benefit of their experiences for this problem.  I hope that the therapy will work and that you will eventually be able to open your mouth wide enough to eat and to have any necessary dental work, which would hopefully not include tooth pulling.  Hang in there, things sometimes change when you least expect it.
