Hello survivors!

I haven't checked in here in ages. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2003. I had 8 months of treatments - chemo for 3 months - radiation for 6 weeks - 3 more months of chemo. Then I took tamoxifen for 5 years. In July it will be 10 years since I finished treatments. I feel great! Of course I am 10 years older, and I know the chemo and radiation took a lot out of me but I am still around.  I thought it might be encouraging for others to know you can survive.

    Thanks for checking in here...

Glad to know you're doing so well. :-)

I believe it's really helpful for newcomers on the journey to hear from long-term survivors. Me, too: 10+ years since 1st DX, and 2+ years since 2nd DX.

With best wishes for continued NED for you...

    Kind regards, Susan

    New Flower - I'm wondering

New Flower - I'm wondering about more chemo after rads also.  i did neoadjuvant and adjuvant chemo, but none were post rads nor have I heard of it unless for mets.  Perhaps it will be explained.

    Yes!

Just had my regular appointment with my onc last month.  Things continue to look good, and after my next appointment, I will shift from three-month checks to six.  He has decided to put me on the ten-year plan for hormonal therapy, with a change in the drug midway.  The interesting comment he made to me was that I could have another thirty years!  Who knows, but I think we all know that progress continues to be made in treatment, improving our futures.  YES!!
