1 Year NED - UPDATE
Just a quick note to say I've been given the great news of being NED one year post treatment by my ENT/Surgeon. I have an upcoming appointment for a swallow study, blood work and visit with my MO but I expect all will be well. The side effects, while many, are managable.
Keep up the good fight!
Positive thoughts and prayers

UPDATE: Went to Johns Hopkins for follow ups and a swallow study. All in all at one year out I'm doing well. Blood work looks great. The swallow study was in their terms, "interesting". While I can eat just about anything, I'm still at the "chew, chew, sip, swallow" stage with just about everything. This is the "new normal" for me. On the negative side, I got chastized for not doing my swallow exercises as I should have been doing. I've admittingly slacked off to maybe once a week and half hearted at that. I was told in no uncertin terms that I must do them every day for the rest of my life. If not, I run the likely risk of losing my ability to swallow. There is a noticable weakness in the muscles of my throat as well as a narrowing of the esophagus. There's also a "pocket" in the back of my throat that's the result of surgeries radiation. So there you have it. I need a dose of my own advice eh? So it's back to the grind...

Outstanding news to read with my morning coffee. Your road was a bit bumpy to say the least, but you are a fighter and continue to strive to do all that you did before. The can-do attitude really helps in reaching our goals.
Now give us a happy tune

That might be the best words a doctor can say.
His actual words were (and my fiancee was with me)...
"Looks clean to me! Now, go get married!"

Hi Guzzle,
I had wanted to propose to my Chiquita in 2012 but cancer got in the way.... she stuck by me and was an amazing caregiver. I wouldn't have made it through the battle without her. I proposed Christmas morning of 2013. In March of this year we had a pretty big scare when the right side of my neck swelled up. ENT was very concerned and wanted to rule out a recurrence. That just took our hearts out of our chests. We mentioned then we had a wedding planned. Fortunately, the CT was "unremarkable". I had some kind of virus that caused the nodes to swell. So.... upon this "scope, poke and prod", all was clear.... He said congratulations, shook my hand and told us good luck with the wedding, see you in six months
We went yesterday and got the marriage license. 4 weeks to go
Positive thoughts and prayers
Soon to be Mr. and Mrs. "T"
