Cisplatin?
Actually sitting here wired up to it now. Sounds like a dodgy sparkling wine. Also had my first zapping which wasn't overly unpleasant. For the first time in a year have a damn cold which made nose breathing in mask tricky. I know because of all the advice you have given me it will get tough. Have been eating like a horse , drinking like a fish p***ing like a race horse. Will take on enough meds to qualify as a member of Aerosmith if required to get through. Wi Fi in hospital excellent making Netflix a good option along with new Jo Nesbo hardback. Three courses for lunch / dinner. I never used to take a lunch break. NHS really want to fatten you up? I joked that I wanted to be the first to go through this. And put weight on. V. Unlikely!

Guzzle, hopefully all your treatments will go as smooth! Netflix will really help pass rage time and they have some great programming for sure.
i can relate to the radiation but I had Erbitux vs Cisplatin. It's amazing to mr how it seems like we all have similar cancers but the chemo drugs can be so different. i really wonder why the chemo piece isn't more standard? Regardless, every doctor has their preference and lots of success stories here with all of them.
Eat everything you csn get your hands on and gain some weight! I'm impressed how well you bounced back after the tonsillectomy so hopefully you'll handle the next few with flying colors!

Hi Ginadet, got some contacts over here who state that you slowly regain your curry buds. Let me know when your next in Blighty. I found a v. Good curry house in NYC called Brick Lane last year. Very Central in Manhattan. Charged 4 times what they do in Brick Lane but I suppose its Manhattan. You can still find good, cheap places to eat in London. Friends thanks for all your thoughts. The mask was unpleasant as I have a stinking cold and could breathe through my nose. And just taken an anti nausea pill. Which obviously me feel nauseous. I don't know what it is with the different bands of chemo. I know the cisplatin is "mixed" here and dispatched to ward.I had 4 hours saline either side hence staying in. Forced hydration I suppose. And force fed food, water, hot drinks in a nice way. Loads of anti nausea meds to go and a 24 hour nurse hot line. Issued with a thermometer in case temp gos up. Quite a good service and very pleasant staff. I knew there was a reason I had been fundraising fot Clattetbridge cancer centre. Glad to have that drip contraption (Dalek - Keith another challenge for you mate!) as Brits and American geeks will know what this is! I doubt you fit either category bud! Just snuck on scales. Early days. Plus two pounds. It cant last.G.

Good luck to youHi Guzzle,
Good luck to you and I am sure you can go through this treatment. I’m just nearly 3 months post treatment of NPC and going to do the scanning in July.

Thanks. End week 1. Cispulatin ? Chemo and 4 rads due to holiday weekend. 2 chemo and 29 rad to go so still in honeymoon period. Slight nausea but ok with tablet. Gained 8 pounds though I know this will be reversed. Rib Eye steak for protein tonight. Just been invited to Michelin starred restaraunt in December. Will be nice if I can go with taste buds! Going to have a curry tomorrow. I know each one could be the last for a while. Having to reduce excercise driving me nuts! Has to be a balance U suppose to keep energy/weight up. Cheers and have a good weekend all. G.

As they say in Britain. Your food consumption is verociously loud like the Hoover got got in overdrive. Best effort I seen around here in a long time. Lol? Keep it up. On average the wall finds about two weeks out. You'll have lots recent memories to help drive to the other side. You got ATTITUDE my friend. i bet you roll across with only two flat tires!

guzzle, 1 week down is fantastic and congratulations! It's good to get that 1st week under your belt as you're that much closer to being done! Have you noticed your mouth a little dryer, especially at night? just try and stay hydrated and eat as much as you can as often as you want. I'm not sure I could handle Indian food as one of my choices but you guys love it in the UK because that was the only place you could get a beer once the pubs closed! I got sick on Indian food in Singapore one time and haven't eaten it since.
I'm really happy your first week went so well. keep the positive attitude and keep on checking the treatments off the calendar 1 by 1.

Keith, the pubs never shut if you knew where to go! I have noticed mouth little dry and balance between hydration and not running to take a p**s all night a delicate one! Hope your wedding trip was good. Don alas I am sure my curry days will be temporarily over soon! But Ill enjoy whilst I can. G.
