If You Could Go Anywhere...

Well, I did it. Mine is Hawaii and I went in February. It was cold and miserable on the East Coast of the US, and I just decided to take a break and get some sun. And I figured I didn't have much time left anyway so ought to use it doing things I like.

Wonderful trip.  On a catamaran afternoon cruise I saw hundreds of humpback whales (they come to Hawaii to breed that time of year) and when I was snorkeling, I could hear them underwater. Was breathtaking!

If I'm given more time on this planet, I'd like to go to South America because I've never been.  When I was younger I had the stamina to go go go and would have been able to do a round the world trip, but now with the cancer and all, I can only take short stints and need to be back home and grounded.  In my dream, then, I"d have the energy to go go go again, and then I could travel for several months at a time, even on a sailboat!

My hearts desire is to go to Scotland, rent a cottage and see all there is to see.  I love the brogue and even the bagpipes.  If there is such a thing as a past life, I must have been a lass for sure!

I would also like to return to Lucerne, Switzerland.  I was there for a few days a number of years ago and fell in love with the scenery.  It would have to be in warm weather though...when the flowers are blooming in the foreground, the Alps are snow covered in the background and the lake is mirror smooth.

I would also like to return to the Grand Canyon.  There is nothing to compare with its beauty.

Too many places to list - not just one.  So for now, I'll list the next place on my bucket list - English countryside and Wales.  My husband and I are going to drive around the English countryside and Wales for 10 days in June-July.  We'll walk in the Cotswolds, the Lake District and Snowdonia.  I welcome any tips from our British members. 

I'd love to travel all over Europe to see the sights. I'd especially like to see the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Italy and Spain.

Helen, the idea of going back to a wild, untouched past is so cool!  I would love to experience that (so long as I could avoid getting eaten by a saber-toothed tiger or something).

Several Anglophiles here...interesting.  If only we could all get together for a big meet-up in some lovely village in the Cotswolds or the Scottish Highlands!

ETA that I know that Scotland and Anglophile maybe shouldn't be in the same sentence.

I love to travel so there are many places, Alaska really sticks out in my mind but I think the thing I have consistantly dreamed about for many years is traveling the lower 48 states in an RV.

There is a lot to see in our own country too...we're just so big it's hard to fit it all in!

My Aunt did that!  She sold her home in NY and visited every state.  Then she sold the RV and moved to a small house in FL with her husband (they dated 22 years before they got married because she was jilted at the alter in her 20s and refused to marry for a long time).  She was so happy.  Once your kids are older, you'll do it!  This is a great post.

I was hoping you'd reply.  I'll look into the site you mentioned.

Australia & New Zealand if I could only tolerate the long flight.  Been to Ireland for me and Sicily for my wife.  2 week safari in Kenya & Tanzania.  Japan ,Hong Kong Mainland China and Singapore was another trip.  Many cruises. Long distance travel is for young people!!!

My desire was always to go to the Holy Land.  Visit and walk the roads that Jesus walked and just take in the sites.  However, with the unrest over there and my not liking to fly (especially that far) and my bathroom problems, don't think I'll make it.  It was always a dream of mine though.  Watched Passion of the Christ today so guess that will have to do for this year .
