Doxil It Is.
Doxil is my next drug and I will have it on Wednesday. The oncologist would have preferred Xeloda but I wanted more information on how Xeloda interacted with folic acid which I take to go with Methotrexate (chemo drug) for uveitis.
I had an echocardiogram and blood work. I will have it once a month.
Has anyone had this drug? If so, would you please tell me what side effects you had with it.
Thank you and thanks to all who gave me support.

YES you will as you always manage to take the next step. Please keep us posted and I regret I know nothing of Doxil.
Thank you, I hope that I don't have nausea and vomiting. None of the medication will work. I have tried them all. Taxol did not have that side effect. Mostly it was fatigue and before they lowered the drug, iron deficiency,
Best to you,
Doris

When they give to you that you have ice chips or something frozen to help keep the mouth sores away. and watch for nerve pain.

Thank you Olga. I hope this one last another 12 months. I am going to have to talk with my specialist about the folic acid that I need for Methotrexate before trying Xeloda.
Thanks again,
Doris

Good luck tomorrow, Doris, as you start Doxil. I know nothing - just that I want this drug to knock the stupid cells into remission.

Thank you for all the
Thank you for all the encouragement.
I began Doxil today, it's an off shoot of adriamycin, it's red.
I had a reaction to it and the oncologist came down and was willing to put the drip slower if I wanted to try that or I could come in next week and discuss what chemo he would put me on. I decided to try the slower drip. It took forever but I tolerated it.
Suppose to wear loose clothing. Never thought about the compression sleeve so I have to call tomorrow.
I guess the compression sleeve has become part of the normal routine if I forgot all about it. It's always something.
Thanks again for the support.
Hugs to you all,
Doris

Sorry for the side effects. Please keep wearing your compression garments. If you have lymphedema you should wear your compression sleeve During infusion as Most Chemo drugs and steroids cause swelling and water retention therefore compression is critical to keep lymphedema under control. Please take care of your lymphedema during chemo Combination of water retention and low WBC gives opportunity for arm infection.
wishing you an easy time

I called my oncology nurse and she consulted the head of the oncology department. They also told me to keep wearing my compression sleeve and glove. However, not to have the therapy center order me a new one at this time. I am going to wait until the oncologist and I talk about it in May.
I don't want my arm getting bigger and I do my exercise every day, though did skip last night. I was exhausted.
Can't believe I forgot to yesterday, must have been the new drug, the pain and etc. that made me. Or putting on the sleeve every morning is as routine as washing your face, it was part of the norm. I remember when I first use it, I thought that I never get the hang of it.
Thank you for your input, I really appreciate it. I tried putting the words in Google and didn't come up with anything. I do have a little back pain on the right side. I hope it doesn't get worse.

Dear Doris, while I am so
Dear Doris, while I am so saddened to hear that you had to switch chemos and all that crap, I am glad to hear you are going with the flow with the new tx plan. My pain doctor back in June 2011 told me that pain treatment is a try and see program. Try this and see if it works, if it doesn't, we try something else. It seems fitting for cancer tx,too, does it not?
I hope you have succuess with it!! Glad to see you on the boards!!

Doris please continue asking for a slow drip
Keeping Low infusion rate did help me to tolerate Taxotere/Cytoxan mixture. I had to remind nurses every time as it was not recorded in my file.
Yes unfortunately it is a try and see game. at this point there is no way to know for sure which drug will help
i hope this one will put you into remission. Hugs
