My husband was diagnosed on jan 29 with stage 4 colon cancer. I was wondering of any advise or encouraging words from this stage. Thanks in advance .

Welcome to the forum, Lana Jo!
Wish you didn't have to join us, but hopefully we can provide some support and info as you and your husband go on this journey. It's a tough one, for sure, but it is a little easier with the support of others who have first hand experience of it.
There are quite a few caregivers here, as well as patients, so you can get both perspectives. That can be helpful.
There are also a number of us who are stage 4...not where anyone really wants to be, but there is cause to have hope. We have a number of "old-timers" who have been dealing with it for years, and some who have achieved long-term remission. I hope your husband will be one of those.
Any questions, just ask!
Hugs to you and your husband~Ann Alexandria

I'm sorry to hear about your husbands diagnosis, but know that you have come to the right place for information and support.
Tell us a bit about your husbands situation. Did he have surgery, or is he doing chemo? Is he going to do radiation?
We're all over the board here. Some have had surgery (me for one), others are waiting for their tumours to shrink. Some have had radiation (me for one) and others just chemo.
Some have had multiple chemo sessions, others just one. You name it, you'll find someone here who has experienced it and willing to help your husband and yourself along this path.
Post often. We're here for you.

Dear Friend,
Try to convince your husband to join this forum. He will greatly benefit from the direct support. Half of the healing process is being informed, trusting your doctors, nurses, your medicine and having people around you that support you.
Let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Welcome.
The first thing that I would like to tell you is that THERE IS HOPE! The road may be long and sometimes you will come across a bump that throws you to the ditch, but the right attitude will take you a long way. I was diagnosed stage IV over two years ago and I am currently scheduled for two surgeries in the next two weeks. I am very excited about this.
As others have already mentioned, this board is a wealth of information coupled with caring people who really understand. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
Welcome.

Welcome
Sorry to hear of your husband's diagnosis. This is a frightening time for both of you. I'm sure by now you have a couple of doctors. This is a wonderful group of people that will be here to help you and your husband get through this. Make sure that someone goes with to any appointments and write things down. Also, make sure you tell your doctor's everything, even if it seems minor they need to know. Don't take anything without your doctor's consent. Some don't like you even to take vitamins so always ask. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Hi!
My brother is stage 4 rectal cancer with mets to the lungs and liver. He's had a lot of ups and downs over the past few months but is stable right now. His doctor is very positive and tells us to keep up the hope. He is on a lowered dose of chemo because of all his side effects, but we will know in late May, when he gets scanned again, whether the chemo is helping.
I'll give you the advice that people told me. Go with your husband to every appointment and bring a notebook. Think about any questions you want to ask and write them in your book so you don't forget when you get there. Write down all the chemo meds he's on and procedures he will have. You can share this info with the forum and there will be people on here who can help guide you with information and what they've learned. Ask lots of questions, no question is ever stupid!
Make sure you get your own colonoscopy and take care of your own health because he's going to need you.
I'm a caregiver of my intellectually disabled brother, so I go to all his appointments. Dad has the early stages of dementia, so they need my help.
Anyway, any questions, just ask. There are a great bunch of people on here.
