Tumor markers were right
After 5 years, my breast canceer has spread to my ribs. To be honest, I am in shock. I thought after 5 years I was in the clear. How silly was that ??? ONcologist has already given me two shots of Faslodex. Another series of shots in two weeks. She is very optimistic as the "spots" are very tiny and this was caught early. Yet, somehow I don't feel very optimistic. I hate what this disease does to us.

Sending good thoughtshope67 said:Ah, I am so sorry about your news
Damn it! I've learned from stories of others that we are never clear. Dear GrandmaJ, I am sending tons of positive thoughts to you in hoping that Faslodex will do its job. Take it one day at a time.
Hugs, Carmen
I like your oncologist's optimism.

How was it found?
Were you hurting or was this found in a routine checkup? So sorry this is happening to you. How long after 5 years? We have to be alet as to how our body feels for our entire life.

i am so sorry but so glad your doc is really hopeful. people live with bone mets for a long time, and the drugs can ground the cancer into submission!

I am so sorry to hear this.
I am so sorry to hear this. But don't give up! Radiation, faslodex and zometa (or xgeva) put my rib mets into remission. That was 9 years ago!

Cynthia, thank you so much for your positive and encouraging note. That's exactly what my oncologist said.

Found on routine 6 month check up. I have no signs. I feel fine... It would be 5 years in July. I thought the Femara was supposed to stop this from happening.

This is definitely NOT what any of us want to hear at any time. It is indeed very hopeful that this was caught early and will respond to treatments, but it just isn't the "all clear" news that we want to continue forever. Sending lots of hugs your way.
