Well POOOP
February CEA was 30+...had Liver surgery in mid February and CEA only dropped to 19+. Propsed chemo is Leucovorin, 5FU and Avastin starting next week for six months. But platelets are under 75, so that may not last long. At the last appointment Onc did not talk about any of the current test results or comment on the CT done the week prior to rule out a Pulminary Edema (PE). ...primary source of information is PCP and medical records.
I hate to think that this is going to be the fourth recurrence !! Thankfully, the home support team is putting on a full court press just in case it is.
Anyway; RATS.

Have you had a scan recently, Art?
Or is the surgery still too recent? Also wondering is CEA is a good marker for you. I'm sorry I can't remember the details from past posts (hoping I can still claim chemo brain). I hope it's not a recurrence too. As you can probably tell from my leading questions!

Thank you
Not sure what it is that is going on.
Sadly, CEA is a good marker for me and it seems that Onc is placing a lot of faith in chemo. I have been advised in various fashions and none of them are warm and fuzzy.
None the less I stay optimistic that there is a bright tomorrow.
The collection of people who gather here provide me with great hope.
Thank you,
Art

Prayer and best wishes that all will be well. There is not a lot of 'warm and fuzzy' in cancer is there?
Hang In. We are right here with you.

Oncologist
Thank you all for the uplift. I also hope that it is not the fourth recurrence and that it can be addressed easily.
See the Oncologist in about a month. Hope he has some great ideas. Chemo starts again April 21, 2014.
Still upright and ambulatory...Who could ask for more?
Regards,
Art
