Yikes! My Mother-of the-Bride dress...

Well, this is what happens when you buy the dress 4 months before the event, your thyroid TSH is on a mad rollercoaster ride, you are on steroids and you are just out of shape (lol)...my dress no longer fit.  Yikes!  I  gained about 5 lbs which all went to my derriere (as per usual) and the dress had absolutely no extra room there.  It was just too tight and no seam to let out.  Talk about mortified!!! Embarassed

Well here is the part that made me cry today (happy tears).  I brought the dress back to the small store where I bought it (still with tags and still un-hemmed) and told them what happened.  I asked the owner for any help and told him I knew I could not get a full credit now, but would be happy with any help (expensive dress).  He gave me a full store credit because I guess he could see I was going through chemo, etc.  I honestly did not expect that and I do not know many small stores that would do that after 4 months.  I thought that was incredibly kind!

Anyway, the new, revised dress is pale pink long and lacey.  Katherine likes it much better (Yay) because the pastel color blends better.  I am just delighted to have a dress that is not tight over my butt and is pretty. Wink  Whew!!!

    PS Right after this happened,

PS Right after this happened, the genetics lab called and said my insurance (Cobra now) would not pay.  We are going to do it anyway, because we feel it is the right thing to do for our young relatives.  The geneticist says we will probably never find the gene, but he thinks we should try.  So I guess it is a good thing the dress store owner was so kind today!  Easy come, easy go. Geez! Wink

    Sometimes

the kindness of strangers boggles my mind and strengthens my belief in humanity.

I'm sorry this happened to you, but grateful you were treated kindly and with dignity.

We're gonna need a picture no matter your weight:)

    Dress

My son is getting married in June. I have not picked out what I will wear. Doesn't anyone elope anymore? I'm sure you will be more comfortable in a dress that is not tight. Have a good time.

It is so  so nice to hear

It is so  so nice to hear that the store owner let you get a new dress and that it was so much more lovely!! If only our insurance companies could be so nice!! Can't wait to see a picture of you in it!!

Also glad you only gained 5 lbs!! At least it went to your butt and not your gut!

5 lbs gained - in 1 area of your body --- butt area,

oh the jokes that are running thru my head!  What a terrific and kind gesture of your small store owner play it forward for you CC... and as it turned out, a perfect colored dress for Katherine's Big Day.  Love your adventures !

So sorry to hear about cobra decision not to pay ---

Looking forward to your on going adventures leading up to Katherine's wedding day.
