2 years out since last recurrance and NED!!!
Just wanted to share this with everyone. My mom went through total of 2 recurrances with total of 4 surgeries plus 6 biopsies combined and radiation since Nov of 2010. If you read her profile you will see that beast kept hanging on for quite sometime. Whenever I researched the prognosis after recurrance it made me so scared and hopeless... however we just got the greatest news: her 6 month check up CT scan is all clear!!! on 3/1 we marked 2 years since her last surgery. We were scared about this scan becasue mom feels some pain from time to time where she had her radiation and neck dissection however it must be just late side effects of radiation or scar tissue from surgeries. Anyway for those who are fighting recurrances I wanted to encourage you all to keep fighting and never give up. Eveyrone is different and their story is unique. Recurrance is not a death sentance. I thank God that my mom is still here and well and I truly think it is a miracle and she is a living proff that God listens and that miracles happen. I am happy that the number of people who survive recurrance grows everyday. Stay strong, I am keeping all of you in my prayers.
Thank you

Thank You!
It is SO great to hear your report. So many fade away and we never know what happens; we assume and hope the best but it is especially nice to hear about surviving recurrence. I suspect if polled that would be the most common fear we carry around and try to stuff in a crack somewhere in our behind and just try to forget. If we ever face recurrence we remain hopeful for continuing onward.

joanna, that is awesome
joanna, that is awesome news!! very happy for you and your mom. i also survived a recurrence and 2/28/14 was my 2 year anniversary! your mom will be celebrating her 2 yr anniv before you know it. You are very correct when you say God listens and miracles happen. there are several people here who have faced and survived 1 or more recurrences and are doing fine and some are still going thru tx but doing well. God is good.
God bless,
dj
