in Head and Neck Cancer #1

hello to all

on february 24, 2014 i received the best birthday gift..my dad's 2 year petscan was all good with even an improvment in the inflamation in his esophagus! 

we ended chemo n rad in 10-11..we have had a petscan in 2012 and this one would have been 2013 (we were 2 months behind) i am so happy to get to the two year mark as i understand this is very good (has anyone else heard this)..

dad is doing well he is eating most things with the exception of some meats we cant gain weight but drs say if this is your worst complaint we r ok! he has to chew chew chew when eating..coughs up food thru his nose on occasion and still has phlegm nown again.but its all good!

    Yes, the one year mark is a milestone, the two year is another for sure.... I'm fast approaching the five year mark.

    yes im  keeping tabs on you! from the time i found this wonderful bunch of survivors  you were definitly an inspiration and still are ..two years feels good...i must admit but knowing your at 5 is inspiring! it keeps the hope going...believe!

    That is so good to hear that someone is NED. The two year mark makes it even more special.

    Yes, an all’s good PET scan and the 2 year mark are both very good signs.

    I also belong to the chew, chew, chew club and can shoot a carrot out my nose.

    Michelle, happy birthday and what a wonderful gift!  so glad your dad is doing so well.  yes, 2 years says a lot!  2/28/14 is my 2 year mark and i am looking very forward to it.  at 2 years the recurrence rate GOES DOWN, DOWN, DOWN!  good for us!  like your dad, i have to chew, chew, chew, chew, chew and then chew some more but i can eat anything.  i have also had my food come thru my nose instead of going to the stomach.  not sure why that happens, when it does, i just stop eating and try again later.  it does't happen that often.  i have a lot of phlegm everyday, i'm learning to just deal with it.  i use a suction machine for mine at least every hour, all day long and some thru the night.  overall tho, life is good.  tell your dad congrats on the 2 year mark!!  that is a great ahcievement!!
