So glad to see you both posting and sounding like you are both feeling better! I didn't have any issue with hemorrhoids, as the one hemorrhoid I had was removed along with the tumor prior to my treatment. The are where the stitches were did get a bit swollen and irritated though, and frequent baths really helped. I often put a few cups of baking soda in the tub, except during that immediate post treatment period that you just went through, when the burns were the worst - then I started using 2 cups of vinegar instead of baking soda. To me it sounded like vinegar would be hell on burns, but evidently just the opposite, very soothing. Congrats to you both... - A.H.

I read your initial post about feeling so terrible 3 days after treatment. I was right "behind" you and feeling very apprehensive. How are you feeling now? I am still feeling bad. I posted yesterday morning because I thought the hemorrhoids were my main problem. Thank goodness I was scheduled for a Neupogen shot yesterday afternoon because by the time I got to the treatment center I felt like I was going to pass out. They did blood work and my white blood cell count was 0.6 (even after three prior Neupogen shots), my red blood cells were also low so I got Procrit and I was dehydrated and got some IV fluids. Felt much better after I left. I'll be going back today for Neupogen and more fluids though I had a better night last night (slightly). The hemorrhoids make it very difficult to get comfortable.
There is no way I can get in and out of a tub right now. So I've started using the Sitz bath. It does seem to give some temporary relief. I thought was I starting to feel better - wishful thinking. Right now I feel like I will never be better. Wallowing in a little self-pity I suppose. I promise not to do it for long.
I hope and pray that you are feeling better!

Hi
I am now 10 days out from treatment. I can now pee without using a spray bottle to dilute the pain. I am celebrating little victories one at a time. Bowel movements still hurt but not as bad (can't believe I can say that). I have my bowel movements in my sitz bath. Sounds gross but helps some. I have not found any one thing that takes the pain away. I have come to the realization that will just be time.
Fortunately, my white count never dropped but my blood count did and I had to have 2 blood transfusions which helped. I hope you get your strength back soon. I am moving around a lot more and driving now. I cried so much the last couple weeks of treatment from the pain. So nice to talk to someone who understands.
Praying for you to hang in there. Maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Hemorrhoid relief
Hi - I just joined the forum today! I am 16 days post treatment and still having a lot of discomfort with my radiatin burns, my female counterparts(I have a UTI) and hemorrhoids to boot. My Dr. prescibed an ointment for the hemorrhoids but when I applied I thought I was going to go through the roof because it burned so bad. I think it's because I still have open sores, so beware if you have open sores. I am finding my best friend is the sitz bath. I have also been using lidocaine and silvadene. They seemed to help for the most but are not helping with the itching. I am picking up another ointment today so if it helps the HR's I'll let you know!!!

my hemorrhoid treatment
I bought a big pack of those popscicles that come in the long plastic wrappers that you freeze as needed. Once frozen, I wrapped a paper towel around it and bent it, then put it inside my underpants and sat down. It actually helped shrink my hemorrhoid and numbed it. I have named my hemorroid "Pretty Boy Rhoid." My neighbor has named hers "Grapes of Wrath" and her husband's is "Jimmy the Hemmie."
