Any football fans on here?
As a life-long Washingtonian, I am SO excited that the Seahwaks are going to the Super Bowl!
I remember the days when most every Sunday brought another day of head-hanging shame for Seattle, so for us this is a huge achievement!
The entire city was so quiet yesterday...streets were empty, stores were empty.
The stadium, on the other hand, probably dang near collapsed from the roar of the fans.
There was so much yelling here at my house, even my dog got in the act. He spent most of the afternoon barking.
And just as an interesting aside, I read this morning that our new coach (who was successful at the college level before coming to Seattle), has a philosophy of infusing his players with "positive energy". I think that's an awesome way to guide young people, and clearly it's working.
My apologies to any 49ers fans out there, just had to comment on this!
Our "Great Wheel", lit up for the game.

So cool!
Hi,
I've followed this site every day (lurking) since 2010. We lost a very dear friend that year to colon cancer and during his struggles I came here for information to share with him. I pray for all of you here! Anyways...we live in Yakima Wa and are HUGE Seahawk fans! Our house was crazy yesterday also and it's so exciting that we are headed to the super bowl. We are exhausted today! It's a "happy, happy, happy" time for Seahawk fans!!! Take care...Love, Sue

Ok AA … just for you I am going to root for the Seahawks.
I have to say though as a long-time San Francisco resident with fond memories of Candlestick Park I am a bit disappointed. Joe Montana used to be my secret crush;) I no longer have cable (cut the cord and went to HuluPlus and Netflix) but we have friends that have invited my son and me over to watch on their gigantic screen television. My husband used to love it; a wonderful distraction. I will be thinking about you and all those who will have fun watching the Super Bowl. Great picture.
Peace. ~ Cynthia

he of the glacial blue eyes. A reasonable crush, imo.
Hope you and your son go out to enjoy game day...it is a fun distraction, esp if you don't take it too seriously (unlike my son, who gets very sad when they lose).

Carroll seems pretty awesome,here4lfe said:A Pete Carroll Fan
I will be pulling for Denver, only because I like to see Peyton Manning end his career with a ring. But if Seattle wins, I won't be disappointed. I am a Pete Carroll fan, and followed his career at USC and now to the Pros.
Best
and really it will be a miracle if Seattle wins. Can't really compare a QB like Peyton to our youngster, can you? All that experience will no doubt make a difference. But we'll see...I'm just hoping for a good, close game!

At least I it wasn't Joe Namath.
My father used to leave the house and walk very slowly, alone, down a long country road after the Dallas Cowboys would lose ... I know what you mean about taking football loss seriously

Far better than the alternative, right? We can all be old together. Here's my role model for aging...

My wife and I are huge
My wife and I are huge football fans. My team is the giants so my season was over long ago. My wife's is the patriots but she was happy they got that far. Congratulations on the Seahawks. I didn't realize you lived there. We were thinking of selling everything in a few years and moving to Portland dependingon my health.0 -

Not quite as awesome as Seattle, though! Not too many cities where you have salt water beaches, lakes, and mountains, all within an hour's drive.
But Portland is good too.

Go Seahawks!
How bout dem Seahawks. I grew up in Seattle and because of my paper route, I had season tickets to the Huskies for a dollar a game (in the rainy end zone). In 1960, they went to the Rose Bowl against Wisconsin. Huskies were 6 point underdawgs and won 44-8!
(I'm 2 yrs post chemo, NED. The folks on this board helped me so much. I guess I'll chime in, even if it's only football)

It was a pretty amazing experience for us. We've had only one national championship ever (baskeball) and that was in 1979, so it's been a while! And for such a young team, with a lot of late round draft picks (and some guys not even signed), they did an amazing job.
I'm still a bit hoarse this morning, along with many other folks around here!
