Nasal congestion

in Head and Neck Cancer #1

I have a flu for over a week now.  Getting better but still feel cold in the body that goes to the bones.  Worse symptom is nose congestion in which unable to breath at all. Breathing through the mouth make it very dry.   Try to blow out the nose but content is very thick and won't come out.  Used Neil Neddy pot but not seem to relieve the congestion.  Any suggestions?

    PM,

    Drink lots of water, take aspirin and get plenty of rest.  Not much in Matt’s bag of  tricks for post treatments flu.  I have not been down the sick road (knock on wood) yet.  I do know if you can make it through rads you can handle the flu (I believe).

    I have had the bone chilling cold feel as a side effect of radiation.  I don't know where you live, but I feel cold in sunny California!  Nasal rinse.  I need to use 12 ounces for each side of nose.  I have added the Alkalol to the saline solution.  Alkalol is over the counter.  You can safely use the rinse 2 or more times a day.  Did you warm the water a bit?  Did you use the saline solution?  Humidifier is the only other thing I can add.  And sleeping with extra pillows or on my favorite recliner helps with drainage.

    Yes to all except for the alkalol.  Maybe I give that a try.  Today the congestion has gotten better.  Yes, I am in southern California weather too.

    Oh, those Santa Ana winds are horrible for the sinus.  I used to live in Irvine.
