Does anyone have any receipies for energy/protein smoothies/drinks?

    I do not have any specific recipes, but I make smoothies with plain Greek yogurt and soy milk, both good sources of protein.  I add my choice of fruits or veggies and whiz it up in a Nutri-Bullet.  Adding whey protein powder will increase the protein content even more.

    You can make a smoothie out of any vegetables and fruits with greek yogurt. I would never advise putting powdered protein or powdered anything else in your food or drinks. These substances are unregulated and often imported from China or third world countries. Stick with real, whole, organic foods. You can go onto the Nutribullet website for recipes, or google for smoothie recipes. You want to try some anti-inflammatory ingredients along with natural proteins.

    I've been making my own milk kefir for about 9 months. It's extremely easy, and you can also take the fermented kefir, let it drip through a coffee filter overnight and the result is cheese and whey. Any and all of those things have protein (kefir, whey and /or the cheese.) The whey can be drunk as is, added to something else, to soups, to smoothies, used for stock, whatever you want.  I began making my own kefir because I trust nothing bought in a store (unfortunately, I still have to buy the milk in a store, since I don't have room for goats in my apartment). Originally I wanted the kefir for the proboitics, to aid with my digestion, which is basically, non-functional, but it's proven useless in that department. I continue to make and drink it because I like the taste, and for the calcium.  The kefir makes itself, mostly, but it's like having a goldfish in a bowl; you need to feed it, or it'll die, and that means always giving the kefir grains milk to eat, or to put it another way, always having a batch fermenting. Always. It's a very easy thing to do, though, believe me. I'm no cook, and stay out of the kitchen as much as possible, but it's a self-sustaining cycle. You just pour milk, let sit, get kefir, drink kefir.  It's a good source of protein and calcium., an acquired taste for some but delicious from the outset for others, but don't start unless you're prepared to drink a lot of kefir.  But if you want protein, there's your protein.

    Hi Lawchick

    You're very early out of treatment. If you're finding it difficult to be thinking about making special drinks I recommend Carnation Instant Breakfast. It might not be the most pure thing in the world but right now you need to get protein in you, and if easier is better go for it. I tried Ensure and Boost, but they just didn't taste good. The Instant Breakfast (milk chocolate was my favorite flavor) tasted delicious. I wish you all the best. You're doing great.
