Just took my last Aromasin!!
Hi Everyone. I am happy to say that I just took my last Aromasin. I took tamoxifen for 2 and a half years and then after my hysterectomy I took aromasin to complete my five years. I am excited, yet scared to death. Although I hate the joint pain, hot flashes, and the overall feeling of being 20 years older than what I am, it gave me a feeling of security. Now I think I am happy and a nervous wreck at the same time. I am so grateful for this drug and I trust my oncologist telling me that 5 years is enough. Does anyone know how long it takes for some of the side effects to go away? I have very bad trigger finger from aromasin, does that ever go away? Thanks in advance and I hope we all have a Healthy, Happy New Year!!
Hugs,
Ginny

I was on tamoxifen for a full 5 yrs even post hysterectomy. SO no advice on the side effects.
I am sure others here will have helpful suggestions or thoughts.

Pain with Hormonal Drug Therapy
I never used Aromasin but I did use Arimidex and Femara which are all sort of "kissing cousins" drugs. When on Femara, I took mini breaks to see if the pain in my knees where from the drug or something else. I was off 6 weeks and about the 4th week, the pain went away. Once I began the drug again, the pain came back in and around the 4th week.
I was barely able to get up while on Femara after sitting a while. Now (on chemo) I have no problem getting up.
Hope this answers your question.
There has been a lot of talk about extending AI's or Tamoxifen for an extra 5 years, doing 10 years of the drug. I know with the pain of hormonal drugs one hates to think of 5 more years using the drug. Is there another oncologist that you might see for a 2nd opinion.
At any rate, good luck to you,
Doris

Thank you
Thanks everyone for your replies. I really appreciate it. I am thinking of having surgery for the trigger finger because it bothers me so much. I am so ready to move on and truly enjoy life again. I was thinking about getting a second opinion Doris, but my husband and I decided not to. I want my life back. I am a very athletic person and I want to be happy and enjoy the things I used to love. I truly believe that moving on and feeling in shape again is my best way to stop this horrible disease from coming back. I really, really hope so!! Thanks again everyone.
Hugs,
Ginny
