ONCOTYPE IS 18
Well, 18 is just 1 point above the 'low' mark, and into the mid-range. As I was told earlier, this is 'up for discussion' as to whether or not I should do chemo. To recap, DX of Stage 1 Invasive Lobular Cancer, 100% ER, 10% progesterone; umpectomy on December 3, clear borders, lymph nodes are clear. Radiation planned after we cross this bridge, and then daily dose of Arimidex. So, I don't think I'll be choosing to have chemo. I'm just barely over the low range. I am scheduled to see the oncologist about this, but quite frankly I need to be careful about my office visits this coming year with my new insurance.
Many of you wonderful ladies have responded to my other posts. Just wondering what you think about this, now that I have some definitive answers. I remember one or two of you chose radiation and anti-estrogen pill only. Your thoughts would be appreciated!
(((HUGS))) to All!

Monika, it is hard to give an opinion.
I did the aggressive route in 2002. One onco said I was overtreated, my onco said bcuz I was on hormone therapy and bc pills ffor endometriossis, and high dosws, that I needed to be aggressive. Then I had an allergic reaction to chemo and finished 3 of 4;. I also had toxic reaction to tamoxifen so only dis less than a year.
Always was told that one stray cell could change everything. 8 1/2 years it was back with a venvence.
My oncco was again very aggressive and I am beating the odds even thou he says nothing more he can do.
Now 2nd 2nd opinion dr is trying Femora, may or may not work, but I feel like I have some hope.
This part is such a personal decision. No matter which way you go, you will have questions and doubts. If you do chemo and it never comes ba k you will wonder if you neexed it, if you dont do it and it omes ba k, it may be too late and you question it, and if you do it and it comes back, you will know you did all you can but still be pissed that it came ba k.
Hard decision that only you, with the support of those you love and your doctors can really help you with.
No matter what decision you make, remember it is your de ision that you make because it is the best decision for you at this time.

Hugs,
CarolI know this is not an easy road, having been through ovarian cancer twice. I did chemo both times, and the second time it was unbearable. But, I got through it, and I would imagine I would get through this, too. But I'm sure you can understand my hesitation. Aside from that, I really do wonder if it's necessary, since my oncotype is low. But, I will follow through with the oncologist on January 10 with my husband, and we'll see.
Thank you every so much for your candid response. I will weigh all things. My best wishes to you, Carol.
