Esophagus skin sloughing off...

How long does this happen?

Also, I don't really have that sore of a throat anymore (maybe because I'm wearing a pain patch), but the food supplements (SPIZ, Carnation Essentials, Ensure, etc) all cause a thick mucousy situation that is hard to clear out. How long does that last? lol

Thanks again guys and God bless,

Jamie

    sloughing skin sounds bad

    Jamie,

I don’t know that was mucus as much as phlegm (how do you like that).  While the soreness goes away the phlegm you hack up persists for  a long while.  Even today, I think because my saliva is so thick, I have to cough up some phlegm to clear my throat.  My spit is ultra-thick now.

If you are typical and received rads in the throat area, I would expect your condition to improve greatly (after a few months), but your new-normal will have you fine tuning your behavior for a while.

I am much, much better today, I can go longer between sips of water, I can eat and drink (most) anything I want, but throat life is different than before, not bad just different.  Also, my speaking voice is not as strong as before.

Jim still has a problem with

Jim still has a problem with the thick mucous when he eats or drinks anything with cream or milk in it and he is two years out. Bit as the saying goes, "everyone is different."

    So how about....

... the skin sloughing off on the inside of the throat? How long will that continue before getting better? Does it heal at the same rate as the outside of the neck, or faster because it is inside?

    Thanks and God bless,

    Jamie
