Ca125 how often?

I'm curious how often you typically have your CA 125 checked while in active treatment. It is actually my husband who is the patient, being treated with carbo did to suspected primary peritoneal cancer. He had it checked before his first chemo for a baseline. When should I expect his next test? Before each treatment, or longer stretches?

He is no longer operable (has already had 7 surgeries and 35 chemo treatments before switching to carbo) but we are trying desperately to extend his life with some decent quality.

Thanks in advance... After more than two years in the fight we are starting with a whole new set if drugs, side effects, complications of which we know very little. I'm well schooled in all the colon cancer drugs as that was where the docyirs started with him. He has in diagnosed primary, so there are few rules to follow...

    my CA 125 schedule

FWIW, here's my experience: diagnosed with primary peritoneal cancer July 2012. Began Taxol/Carboplatin immediately, 3 wks out of 4; CA 125 measured at each chemo. That schedule continued thru Dec. 2012 (chemo schedule reduced slightly due to neuropathy). Feb. 2013, surgery showed no visible cancer but 3 positive biopsies; started chemo again every 3 wks with Carbo/Taxol (thru May) plus Avastin (thru next week). CA 125 tested every 3 wks. As I'm now at the end of chemo, I've been told my CA 125 will be tested every 6 wks, at least initially.

Should you be interested in the details of my treatment & experience, I've been blogging at www.CaringBridge.org/visit/Carole Seaton

Best wishes to all your family.
