Radiation Fibrosis
Guess thats what I've got.
Spent half a day at the Doctors getting my poorly rear-end looked at.
My butt is one big sore and the natal cleft has a huge fissure. Its not a happy bum for sure.
Doc gave me some cream for the haemorrhoids (which he says are impressive), Witch Hazel for the tear, and oh, the Thush (mouth) is still lingering so I have some meds for that too.
So, can anyone here can give me any ideas on how to control the itch, which is what is causing the fissure and the sore?

OUCH!!
Sorry for your troubled bum...I can only imagine the irritation and how much it must bother you.
Unfortunately I have no words of wisdom. Someone here will surely have some information that will help give you relief.
I hope that you feel better soon!!!

Sorry
Sorry that you have this and I've never heard of it so can't help you. For the itching, which definitely was a concern for me was the calmoseptine medicine. Somehow it has a calming effect but the itching would drive me crazy. If the itch is internal, then I'm not sure what could help you except maybe "pratofoam" which is a prescription and very expensive. I'm hoping that you feel better soon because the damage left behind because of radiation isn't ever explained to you. Try a sitz bath too - that might help some.

i second kim's suggestion
i second kim's suggestion - calmoseptine worked pretty well for me. took forever for the fissure to heal properly, and not until i stopped needing the use of my bum (almost 2 years later). now i wish i had my useless jpouch and bum removed when i go the second ileo.
and the sitz bath! wow - what a game changer.

Thanks guys...
for your replies.
I've never heard of calmoseptine, and will look into it.
Thankfully, the itching is all external (unless I have a bad BM and tear inside) but my goodness, it drives me to distraction. During the day I work hard to control my urge to scratch but at night in my half sleep is when I get at it, and then the cycle of sores start all over again.
The hem cream the Doc prescribed yesterday just made me burn and itch more, but the Witch Hazel wipes were very good and soothing.
And yes, the Sitz bath is a Godsend.
I actually just (as in ten minutes ago) ordered a bidet spray for my loo. I'll have to let you know how that works. Anything that will help..

If you find that you are scratching during the sleep time hours, you might want to try a light pair of cotton gloves as new bed time apparel.
It might help to keep you from further aggrivating the area.
Hope that all the suggestions others gave you help and that relief is on the way.
