Hi ladies,
I've been so busy with my treatments and just living life, don't have much else left in me. Completed #3 treatment with carboplatin/doxil (#1 was carbo/taxotere but assay suggested change to doxil) and have then every 4 weeks. It does lay me low with nausia symptoms and fatigue, but after 2 weeks I'm back to normal. Doxil supposedly do NOT loose hair, but taxoere was already hit so hair gone. But...my hair is starting to grow back...crazy! Doc is recommending a PET in 2 weeks to see how the drugs are working, but the big supraclavicular node on neck is almost gone to the touch at least. Working there, now hoping for node in stomach and 1 in chest. He'll most likely at that juncture decide if 6 sessions is enough or add on a few more...argh! I'm just over this and want my life back, but do know this journey must go forward and allow Western treatments do their thing.
Started my new natruopathic oncologist a few weeks ago, and loaded up with new diet -- gluten-free, no sugar, etc -- and many supplements. This is the start and have hopes of one day relying on diet alone and very little need for all the supplements. I love this way of thinking with treating the terrain and not just the spots with cancer. Strong terrain means a good immune system to keep the disease away!!!!!! I'm very optimiistic~
Hope everyone is doing well and has a wonderful Thanksgiving Day with friends and family!
Thanks for checking in with me...I'll really try to post more often.

Glad you are able to continue living life. Glad you are tolerating the Doxil pretty good. I hope you are half way through this round of Chemo.
I hope all your work to improve your terrain, really does the trick for you and you never have to go on chemo again. May you have a very long life with NED. Praying for good results on your next PET scan.
Is your daughters hair growing the same as yours? Hope you were feeling good enough to enjoy a thanksgiving dinner. In peace and caring.

Jan is Doing Well
Ladies,
Sorry Ive been away from the boards for awhile (job as full-time professor really consuming!), but want to report that Jan is doing pretty well. She is struggling a bit to keep her weight up but also encouraged by latest scans showing shrinkage of her "hot spots": one in her lung has completely disappeared; one in her neck has shrunk to half its original size, and with a few more rounds of Doxil and new naturopathic treatment, she is hoping to be in great shape in a few months.
As always, she feels optimistic but is quite busy with her new nutritional regimen and relatives' inquiries--so temporarily is taking a break fron the boards.
I hope and assume she won't mind my brief and upbeat report to all of you.
As I was diagnosed three years ago with the same uterine cancer as Jan (MMMT, stage IB,), would also like to report that I remain well and am grateful for high-quality of life for the past three years since diagnosis. (I avoid sugar like the plague, take curcumin three times a day, and try to eat only organic meats and raw goat or sheep cheese; try to get a lot of those cruciferous veggies in my diet as well since estrogen seems to fuel so many gynecological cancers. Whether they have helped,, who knows? But am feeling really good.
Like Jan, I've consulted with integrative and naturopathic doctors, preferring not to rely solely on oncological opinion.
Love you all! (Ro, you're a warrioress; Dre, did you see my message about your gorgeous red haircolor a few months ago?)
More Soon,
RoseyR

Such good progress for Jan and I pray it continues moving in that direction for her and all the warriors here.

I am glad that both you and Jan are doing well. I was wondering about Jan, so I am glad to read your post. Jan's last scan did give her good results. Hope she is tolerating the Doxil without bad side effects.
Rosey glad you have had three years of " high quality life". Glad all your hard work is paying off for you. Thanks for keeping us updated. In peace and caring.

I'm just passing thru and thought I'd stop and post. All the treatments are going along as planned, had a change in drugs after the first round, come to find doxil now is a better fit vs. taxol which had in '09 along with carboplatin. Hair was already falling out from taxol, so by time I started on doxil was too late to save the hair. Doxil the hair will get "thinner", but not all fall out...argh!!! Yes it's coming back, so a very nice site when I look in the mirror.
Did a 2nd PET scan a month ago, just to see how the drugs are working. Three areas light up and all of them are better or completely gone. Lymph on neck is 50% smaller, chest node is completely gone, and abdominal area is .5 cm larger, but less intense. All in all, oncologist is happy with the progress and at this juncture should have 3 more chemo's and be done by March....YAHOO!!!
Had my first consult with natruopath and after being on the new eating plan, and supplements for a good 5-6 weeks, the major trifecta (5) blood markers she follows for whole body terrain have all gone in the right direction, plus one is back to normal....another YAHOO!!! Lots of good positive news to keep the old girl going here. Down side, this damn doxil has just given me fits with my stomach and just not hungry, so the weight is coming off. Doing better with naturopath guidance to add more good fats to the diet. Also, the dry skin and rashes on the body are abundant, but just keep putting on lots of cream thruout the day. I do feel like one big grease ball with the creams, but without them, I'd be a dry mess.
Very happy I've made the change to this new naturopath as it has opened my eyes to the things in our environments and how they affect our health. With no gluten and definitely no sugars (even watching the high glycemic fruits) and most fruits/veggies being organic, and the poultry/eggs/beef all from grass-fed and pastured (no vegegetarian fed either) animals, I feel better.....no more stomach cramping was dealing with prior to the recurrence. Quite a lot to this way of eating, so it's a learning curve for me and little by little I'm making the correct changes. Even have my hubbie and daughter making a few changes to their diets, but not as intense as mine. Hey, at least they're trying to be healthier.
Life is good and as we all know, we're never prepared for the words "your cancer is back"....argh! I've learned to continue to fight but with new eyes with the naturopath as the western treatments in my eyes aren't always the only way to kick this cancer out forever.
Hope everyone has a safe and health start to 2014....I know mine will be great....I can feel it in my bones...all good~~~
Love to all,
Jan

You sound like things are going good for you. So happy to hear that your PET gave you good results. I have heard that Doxil can be hard on your skin. At least it does not sound like you have the blisters so many talk about. I hope the next three treatments continue to give you good results.
Happy you are pleased with your naturopath, too. Those who previously have consulted with one have felt they too had positive results. I am glad your stomach problems have resolved, too. May you continue your journey to resume your dance with NED. You are such a positive inspiration for all of us traveling with you. In peace and caring.

How have you been doing? For sake of my not keeping up with this site and no time to read thru all the prior messges, let me know how life is for you. You lounging on the beaches of beautiful, sunny Florida? I'm so envious and as much as we'd love to go to this state, not good to be in the sun while on doxil...argh!
How's Rudy, Mary Ann's husband? Memory serves me correctly, he was to have some surgery or procedure for potential cancer....never quite heard the latest on his situation.
I simply try to put one foot in front of the other and get on with life...not always easy, but I do it.
Best to you my dear friend,
Jan

Hi Jan:
Happy New Year! Glad to hear that you are halfway through your treatments and that you will be finished in March - you have to be really happy about that. Also, happy to hear that where your cancer was found that everything is shrinking considerably - that is so good to hear.
Sounds like you are really happy with your naturopath.
I will continue to pray for you as you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
I wish you all the best with the remainder of your chemo treatments.
Love,
Cheerful

I do think of you often and really admire how you are dealing with this. Just mastering the diet must take so much effort.
