Having surgery - again
I am not on here a lot - have been on less lately as I went back to work full time in June which is a good thing.
I was diagnosed stage 3C in 2007. Surgery and chemo, about 3 years of NED then reoccurence, and more carbo/taxol. Then started on Doxil in January of this year. I was having some pretty bad stomach pain and other digestive type discomfort and it got progressively worse. So about a month ago my doctor ordered a colonoscoy and an esophogeal (sp?) scope. Well, I have a tumor (approx 3 cm) that has penetrated into my colon.
I have a significant amount of scar tissue from my original surgery - that made the colonoscopy somewhat difficult and I was told before that I was not a good candidate for a second surgery because of the scar tissue. Well now that we know there is a tumor there we are going to try to go get it. As risky and difficult as the surgery is going to be I decided it sure beats the alternative.
I am not exactly sure what I am in for. My original surgery was not a piece of cake. I am pretty sure this is going to be worse. But I really have no choice. Holding together pretty good. I am hosting Thanksgiving dinner for about 15 people which is a good diversion! Although I should be at the grocery store right now instead of typing this! LOL!
I got a new iPad for my birthday - which is the day after thanksgiving. And other than that the only thing I told my husband was I want to get the house decorated before I go into the hospital. So family coming in, thanksgiving dinner, football watching and decorate over the weekend. My surgery is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
I hope everyone has a great holiday. Take the time to stop and soak it all in - live in the moment and appreciate every bit.

I am so sorry you have to deal with this!
keeping busy is good. And getting the house decorated is great! It will be so nice to come home to!
I am lifting you up with prayers for the best possible outcome.
PS. Love my iPad! My husband gave me mine before my surgery. Love it!

Good luck on Tuesday.
Maybe the surgery will be easier than you expect. It's lucky that your tumor can be removed surgically. I wish you the best.
Do you think the Ipad should be marketed as a cancer picker upper? I too got mine when I was diagnosed with ovca!

Dear Miley,
I am very sorry about this new tumor and I hope surgery will take care of it. It may not be as difficult as you fear, not for a "veteran" survivor with zest for life and winning attitude like yourself.
Wishing you a great Thanksgiving, a happy birthday and many more birthdays to celebrate with family and friends! Have fun with the new iPad.
Virtual Hugs,
Alexanda
