Ladies please be aware of a possible fraud

I got this kind of Email from someone last month too. I think the person sent out the mail is sick.

I'm glad this has been brought up. I'm one of those people that don't even give the scam offer serious thought.  but I worry about others.

 

targrting people on a cancer board who may be  in financial ruin due to medical costs0 how low can you get?  Ivote for otally ignoring anything to do with this & other similar scams.

another good reminder to never give out info cr card -banking - sicial security #'s to someone you have not contacted.  these people are good

Agree!! Is there any way to alert the American Cancer Society-sponsor of this board- to block scammers? We have a survey coming out for our feedback, could we mention it there?

I too received a similar message right after joining. These people are the lowest of the low! I know these scams happen all the time but I can't imagine what kind of people would want take advantage of people who are going thru so much.

If you receive unsolicited emails or spam via CSN email please forward them to 'Greta' - CSN web administrator. CSN does not monitor private messaging and does not know about those email unless you alert them.

I completed the detailed, on-line CSN survey that Sue mentioned and I don't recall it having a place to report SPAM.  Better to report SPAM directly to Greta, CSN web administrator.

Thank you for posting the alert.

Unfortunately, there have been several attempts to scam members via CSN private messages (PMs) in the last couple of weeks. Beware of anyone asking for your personal information, money, or any other kind of help. Scammers most always convey a sense or urgency and give an email address where they want you to contact them. Please report the CSN username to me immediately if you receive a suspicious PM and let me know whether it's scam, spam, or something else.

More ambitious scammers and spammers seem to target new CSN members. They may be a bit more vulnerable than older members who might be more comfortable reporting suspicious activity and alerting or questioning other members about it. Further, new members are less likely to know how seriously ACS takes such behavior and that staff is available to deal with it. Sadly, some new members ask to have their account deleted if they receive one of these scam private messages. A few even think ACS is responsible for the private messages because they received an email notification from us that they had a new private message.

Several months ago, IT put a deterrent in place that we hoped would be sufficient to minimize incidents. It wasn't sufficient to deter the latest scammer who is responsible for all the scam messages the past 2+ weeks. While there is no way to prohibit people with ill intentions from registering on CSN, we can work to find more effective deterrents and ways to limit the number of members they contact. We can raise member awareness about misuse/abuse of the site and how to report it. We can also find a way to make it easier to report abuse. First and foremost, we depend on members to report suspicious activity. CSN is blessed to have an active membership who do an excellent job alerting us about anything concerning.
