Some Scary News, But Not Afraid!
Hi Everyone,
Sorry I have been out of the loop for a few days, but we just found out on Wednesday that my RCC has spread to the brain. I have about a 1.5 centimeter tumor on my left side that was causing numbness in my right leg and arm, thought I was having a slow motion stroke, but turns out cat scan showed tumor instead, who would of thought, with just getting a good cat scan on Oct 18!! I was released from Georgetown University Hosiptal yesterday, with instructions to call Monday to set up brain surgery! I have been put on steroids to help reduce the swelling in the brain to releive numbness in leg and arm, and I must say it is working pretty well, have more and more feeling coming back everyday. I will be in hospital about 5 days after surgery and then will follow up with about 3 cyberknife radiation treatments. And, from now on, I will also be getting MRI of the brain along with CT scan to make sure no more mets are trying to make a home in me.
I have the greatest husband in the world, and the best family support and most important all of you. We are looking forward to getting this behind us and enjoying the holidays! Please put in a word of prayer for us, and remember, I am good, I am still able to have surgery to remove mets and have not even had to start on daily treatments, so I have a lot more of living to do before I even began to worry about what happens tomorrow! These thoughts have been made possible to me by all of the adivice that I have received from everyone on this network, I am so glad to have found all of you, just not happy about the way we have been brought together!
Love you all, and I will let you know when surgery is scheduled as soon as I know!
Love and prayers of good health!

Hi Brenda,
I am so sorry that this has developed into this....especially with a great CT scan on October 18th. Goes to show you that we have to keep very aware of what our bodies are telling us.
I am so happy that you have a wonderful husband and family to support you. Even though these times are difficult, it can be a beautiful experience, just feeling the love around you.
My thoughts and prayers are with you that you will sail through this.
Keep us posted!

Brenda, I haven’t been
Brenda,
I haven’t been around here much lately, but John mentioned your latest report to me this morning, and I knew I had to get in here and let you know you’ll be in my thoughts and prayers as you attack this latest foe. But you’ve got this. You have a great attitude, a wonderful and caring husband, a top knotch medical team, and a ton of friends and an ace support system who will be with you throughout, some physically and some virtually. But either way, we’re here for you and engulfing you with positive thoughts and energy. You've got a great toolbox and John and I both are confident you'll make it work for you.

Brenda, I'm blown away by your strength and positive attitude. I'd like to think I could be as strong given the same circumstances, but honestly, I'm not sure I could be. You truly are such an inspiration! I am lifting you in prayer and sending good thoughts your way. You WILL beat this!!
hugs to you,

Lightening in a bottle
Brenda, I guesS by now you've had the surgery......or are darn close to it. I sense light all around you. The good news is they found the met early and took care of it quickly. Here's hoping your recovery will be just as quick! I think attitude is hugely important and you've got that covered. After your hospital stay you'll be on cruise control, the radiation a blip on the radar.High five, sister! My thoughts and prayers are with you.
