Yes, twice my CEA rose when I
Yes, twice my CEA rose when I had an infection and went down post antibiotics. I would bet that yours will, too. Try and relax. A one time CEA reading is just that....a steady climb would give one pause.
Hoping you will soon feel better.

Thanks Cathleen for the reply. It does take your breath away momentarily. Will check next week after antibiotics. Xxoo

Infection
An infection will definitely show up in the CEA level so that is probably why the rise in it. Wait until your done with the antibiotics and over the infection and then test again, I'm sure it will show that it is lower. Hope you feel better soon - heard that wasn't too fun to go through.

My husband's CEA rose today
He just went for his 3 month follow up, 2nd one since finishing FOLFOX in July and having clear scans in August. It was up to 3.5. He just finished 1 month of antibiotics for an infection in his perotid gland. Onc. said "Don't worry, don't spend another minute thinking about it" He told him it could be because of the infection and/or antibiotics or sometimes former smokers have rises in their CEA levels. They took some more blood for further testing. We leave Saturday for Vegas for our "F cancer" trip. He said he'd call if anything serious shows up - UGH! He has an appt. in 3 weeks to check it again.

We will have a great trip. Australia sure is far and you wouldn't want to come this time of year - cold, gray and windy.
