MRI and a wedding...

My liver MRI is not normal (still numerous lesions), but it offers hope in that there is now no adenopathy (that was there before) and radiologist is unsure if these are active or residual lesions.  Suggests PET to check.

Since I am doing so well (my markers are normal, my labs are normal and I am feeling stronger), I think my onc may just do a PET scan later.  At least, that's what I hope...Lol.

On a happier subject, I had chemo Thursday and somehow made it to cake tasting Saturday to pick out a wedding cake for our daughter's wedding.  Cake picked!  Beautiful round traditional cake with fresh flowers and buttercream frosting with pale green fondant banding.  Amaretto filling.  Shhh though.  It's a secret.

Groom's cake is chocolate through in through with dipped fresh local strawberries, the whole cake then drizzled in fudge.  A tad indulgent...lol.

We also picked out a pretty sleeveless smocked dress for the flower girl - in pink, her favorite color.

The wedding is in the botannical garden, so we are sticking with the whole Spring, outdoorsy, floral theme.

A wedding is much more fun than cancer Wink.

    Wedding sounds as a fun

May we see a picture of the cake? Or a link to its ppicture

what is about your dress? Any thoughts about it?

Sorry about MRI, however the most important thing is that you have been feeling better and stronger, your labs are normal and you have a great celebration in front of you

I do not know much about liver, as far as bones I was told that they will never look as the normal bones, as well as 1 cm lesion -hole in my iliac crests most likely will always be a hole.

    Hugs

    Scan and etc.

I had a PET that showed my tumors were not active on one side and showed where the activity was beginning to show up.  That was in May 2011.  Tumor markers don't work for me.

Since they work for you, and your feeling good, I would think like you that your oncologist would hold off on the PET, never a fun test to do.

The cakes sound yummy.  The flower girl dress by your description sounds very pretty.

    Hugs to you,

    Doris

    Sounds like a fun time.

Sounds like a fun time.  There is nothing like a wedding.  I love to see people in love and starting out, full of hope and happyiness in their faces on the day.  Love the wedding ceremony location.  Something to help keep your mind off other things.  Yummy cakes.  We dont have a cake each back home in England.  Just the one always a rich usually soaked in alcohol fruit cake and decorated with marzipan covered in mainly white or colored flat icing, then flowers on that etc.  But we are picking up on the U.S. styles ie dohnuts pilled up, each guest taking one.  Anything goes now.  Good luck with PET if this is your next step.

I'm with New Flower -- we want to see pictures!

CC, thanks so much for sharing the wedding plans, and I'm so happy you've been feeling well enough to participate -- we all need happy news around here, so please send us some links if you can!

Does the bakery have a website, or the dress designer, or the botanical garden, or, or, or...?

We're all standing here solemnly crossing our hearts:  We promise not to tell anyone!

I want to see pictures too !!!

I love it. A little off topic but is a grooms cake a Louisianna thing? My sisters husband was from  New Orleans and his family had a grooms cake. Have you picked out your dress yet? If so do tell. Love Surf

I think the groom's cake may

I think the groom's cake may be a Southern thing?  Although Danny and I were married in N.O. 39 years ago, we did NOT have a groom's cake.  Not sure when that tradition popped up, but more cake is always fun.  Many do themed grooms' cakes like Sport's team, hobby, etc.  Aaron just wanted chocolate and strawberries.  That is just fine with me!

Another fun tradition that has been around the New Orleans area for a long time (even my cake had them) are the cake charms that the bridesmaid pull from beneath the cake.  They are usually tied on a silk ribbon and are silver charms.  If a bridesmaid gets the ring, she will be the next married.  If she gets the horseshoe, she will be lucky.  There are many different charms you can pick.  Here's an example from the bakery Katherine picked: http://haydelbakery.com/blog/cake-pulls-a-southern-tradition/

I have no idea who this couple is, but their wedding is where hers will be: http://neworleansweddingphotography.net/7769/lively-wedding-in-city-park-leah-derek-wedding/

Katherine wants to be married under a huge live oak tree, but her rainy day back up is the conservatory where the couple on the link got married.  There is also a lath house where the band will set up.

Katherine designed her cake, so you may have to wait for the big day to get a photo.  Here is a photo of the groom's cake she wants: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/412290540857784534/?e_t_s=pin-text&amp=&e_t=ab942c15cf404d3d8167c66a35d8a459&utm_source=sendgrid.com&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=share_pin_user

I hope you can get some of the links.  And I will send a photo of the flower girl's dress when I find one.

    Why, oh why...?

...did I think it was a good idea to ask to see "food porn" photographs on a bakery website?

God, I want cake now....does anyone have any cake? Cry

I blame Olga, she's the one who started this!

    Everything sounds so good.

Everything sounds so good.  What type of food are they having?  And don't forget lots of photos of everything.  What's your dress like or have you picked it yet?   I remember my daughter's wedding.  It was so perfect.  She was such a joy to be around.  Not even a smidge of a bridezilla.  It made everything fun.  It sounds like yours is the same.

Oh, Traci, thanks for the heads up.  I will avoid looking at the bakery goods right now. I love a good bakery. YUMMY!!

Cynthia, I hope this wedding is a dream come true for all of you.

We go to the food tasting in

We go to the food tasting in January.  There are many different food options, so stay tuned.  Some of the options include the usual carving and pasta stations, but also a stir fry station, smoked salmon presentation, crudite presentation, gourmet presentation (variety of cheeses and crawfish cheesecake), mashed potato bar, turtle soup, seafood gumbo, chicken and andouille gumbo and chicken and sausage jamabalaya.  We will just have to taste everything to decide.

I haven't gotten my dress yet.  Now that I am feeling human again, I will try and get out and find something.

Bella, my 5 year old soon-to-be step grandchild (already our granddaughter if you ask either Danny or me), likes the idea of the chocolate and strawberries cake the best.  I kind of agree with her...Lol.

Vicki Sam, you are too smart

Vicki Sam, you are too smart for your britches Wink.  Dresses are cocktail length and shades of pastel green or green/blue with each one a little different.

I am not sure what color my dress will be as I haven't gotten one yet.  Something pastel though.

P.S. We meet with the florist tomorrow.  Katherine wants to take my antique and vintage bottle collection (light blue blob tops and small milk bottles) and combine it with Aaron's dad's antique bottle collection and use them for flowers on the round guest tables.  I think it should be casual and pretty in the outdoor setting.  And who knew both families would collect bottles...lol.
