ringing in ear from rad. chemo any remedy out there

    I got that from my chemo also (cisplatin) - 6 years ago, as well as hearing loss.  My Ear doc told me that there are really no cures out there.  He would let me know when there was.  This doc's son had cancer and was treated with cisplatin - and lost his hearing - so he has done research on it.

    My solution is benedryl (just the antihistime not the decongestant).  I take two tablets before bed so it makes me tired enough to fall asleep dispite the noise. 

    I also have hearing aids because of the hearing loss.  The tinitus isn't bad when I have then in (and on!).  But, not a solution I recommend if you don't need them.

    Ringing

    I have had ringing every morning since tx finished 05/2012. It is mild and lasts less than an hour after I wake up. If it is any consulation, it has never gotten any worse. I have been told to never have your hearing checked by someone that sells hearing aids. Took that advice for my husband and the hearing specialist told him the long terms effects from being in the military and then running a jackhammer could not be helped with hearing aids. For that reason, I tend to agree with going to a hearing specialist first.

    I've had persistant

    ringing in my ears since a month before I was diagnosed.....I think the cancer started it, and then Cisplatin made it permanent.  It doesn't seem to affect my hearing, but it's always ALWAYS there.  (it does change it's tune now and then, tho.....LOL).  Now I think if it ever stopped I'd get scared....it would be an unexpected change....I don't like those kind of changes.

    Ring, ring....

    I have ringing on the side where my rads were given.  I had a LOT of ear pain on that side (where the tumor was) before surgery and now it's not pain but a ringing/buzzing sound most of the day.  Mine is nerve damage and they told me it was normal.  Annoying, but normal.  Hope you get some relief!
