My mom, who is 68 and has every ailment known to man, swears by Crampex tablets from England. There are some exercise suggestions and cramps prevention ideas on their website too. http://crampex.co.uk/
I don't know if you can buy Crampex OTC in USA, but they are sold from Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/Crampex-Tablets-Muscle-Cramp-Night/dp/B001RYOQBC and reviews are excellent.
Thank you for the suggestion for Crampex. I will look for it at the drug stores. What I saw on the Internet the main ingredient is " nicotinic acid" I already take niacin 1500 mg for my high cholesterol and triglycerides, so I am not sure it will help. I need to read the label on the bottle. I appreciate you suggestions. The cramps are better with once or twice a night about 5:00 or 6:00 in the morning, so at least I get 6-7 hours of sleep Before they wake me.
Glad to hear your breasts showed no cancer. It sounds like it was torture to get those results though. Hope you are doing well. In peace and caring.

Enjoy Trip
Dear Ro
Enjoy trip,
we went two tears ago, it was great!
ReCramps,
i had taken Magnesium in packets diluted in water. No too successful, however one I stopped taking Statins, as a preventative chloresterol nightly pill, don't have any heart related issues, so just stopped it after I read article that Statins can cause severe memory as well as neuropathy symptoms, NEUROPATHY , AND CRAMPS MUCH IMPROVED,
enjoy your trip, praying for you and all Warriorettes!

Ro, enjoy your trip
Ro, I am so happy you are doing so well. I wish I was going to Australia, since I have my relatives there in Melbourne and Sidney. I don't know if I could do the long plane ride, I find it hard sitting fior the 3 hrs flight to Florida. My oldest son who turned 48 had a heart attack in August. Now my husband and son are both recuperating from there stents surgery, they were both in good health, so they thought, neither had elevated cholesterol or HPT, but my son did smoke for a long time, no more now.
I have been trying to stay healthy as they need my help Now, when I was in treatment they were ther for me.
stay strong and positive, I wish I could visit you on one of my trips down to Florida, my granddaughter turned 1 august 30th, we were there to celebrate it. Ro, in 12 months, I went down 7 times to visit the kids. My DIL works at ST Pete's General Hospital in the Coronary unit, she works 12 hr shifts, it difficult cause she's still nursing Ella who wakes during the night.
take care, and enjoy your trip

Leg cramps relief
Hi Ro,
Lovely to hear about your improving results and to know you are feeling good. I have a suggestion for cramps which may work. My husband used to get severe leg cramps and we would use a sports liniment which worked quite well and allowed him to get back to sleep at night. I guess any brand that you may have used in the past would be suitable. I also use a product based on traditional Chinese medicine to manage cramps from fibromyalgia. It is called Zen herbal gel. It also comes in a spray bottle. It is amazing even if slightly aromatic. Not sure about interaction of ingredients however in relation to cancer survivors. When you come down to Australia you could talk to pharmacist about that in any discount chemist store or try www.chemistwarehouse.com.au
I hope you have a wonderful and restful holiday. The weather is pretty warm down here this Spring. Not much rain around, but that depends where you are travelling. Best wishes,

Hi Ro,
Congratulations onHi Ro,
Congratulations on the good news and on the trip!
I was having very bad leg and feet cramps at night - so bad they would wake me up in such pain and I have to stand on my feet just to straighten the bones out! I don't get them every night, but when I do get them, they last for a while and hurt so much!! Just two days ago I saw an orthopedist for my mother and told him about my cramps. He told me abut the old wives’ tale about the soap at the foot of the bed and said that some people swear by it. He said he found one that people said was even more helpful, though. He said that before you go to bed, you need to eat one tablespoonful of yellow mustard...not golden brown, but yellow mustard! He said that over 90% of his patients say it works! My sister, who takes a holistic approach, read the ingredients on the mustard. She said it has turmeric in it - something she has been telling me to take since I was diagnosed with cancer - and said that is what helps with the leg cramps. It was just two days ago and so have not tried it yet. When I do, I will let you know if it works...but it is worth the try!
Hope you enjoyed your trip!!

I appreciate everyone's comments. We made it to Florida and got settled in. We head " down under". Tomorrow at 8:00 am. Looking forward to the trip. It will be a real adventure.
Thank you for all the suggestions for the leg cramps. I am taking potassium, magnesium, and tonic water. My primary doctor ordered flexeril at bedtime. Whatever I am doing has helped that I just get one cramp towards morning. I hope I do not get them on the plane when I have to stay in my seat. I have to get up and walk around to relieve the cramp. It will be a long flight 13 hours to New Zealand.
I am going to see if you can still buy quinine in Australia. In the US it is only approved for malaria. Many people took quinine for years for leg cramps before.
I'll be gone for 25 days. You all will remain in my prayers. I pray that those undergoing chemo have few side effects and the the chemo works for you. I pray that those who are NED remain NED for a long time. And I pray for those with recurrences that their new plan of attack works for them. In peace and caring.

I'm so glad you have good news to cheer you as you embark on this wonderful adventure. May it be everything you imagine and more.
It's important to walk around not just for relieving cramps, but to make sure you don't get a deep vein thrombosis. A walk at least once every 60-90 minutes. (Hard to sleep then, I know.) Last time I was on a flight of longer than an hour, I wore some knee-high support stockings. They aren't glamorous but they do the job.
Thanks for your prayers; may the blessings you request for others come back to you.

I have TED hose to wear. I also take a daily blood thinner shot, so I hope that keeps the blood clots away. Thanks for you note.
