Info on Avastin
Hi all I have been off the radar for awhile but doing much better. Its been since March 7 2012 that I had my left kidney and lymph node removed, 2 rounds of sutent in May, June 2012 for lung metastasis but had to stop due to the pain that it caused to my mouth (had numerous mouth surgeries for prior tongue cancer and the sutent ripped apart the skin grafts) but the sutent did the job and most of the nodules went away. In Oct had my last tongue surgery and In Dec and this past January I finished with radiation and chemo. Just had the feeding tube removed 2 weeks ago but can only eat pureed foods and liquids as swallowing is still an issue as the remainder of my tongue is sewed to the bottom of my mouth thus this limits my speech and swallowing. A few Lung nodules are starting to grow, report says FDG avid mass in the left lower lobe measures 22 x 21, increased from 14x10mm. The SUV has increased from 1.5 to 3.2 and the lesion is now cavitated and this lesion mesured 10 mm on 2-25-13 when first detected. Right upper lobe 5mm new smudgy density is FDG avid with SUV 1.3, suspicious of mets. So I guess this roller coaster ride is taking a new turn as my mouth has been clean for a year now. Can't take Sutent for the time being as I cannot swallow those pills so Avantis wll be tried. Anyone out there have any luck with this drug or were there any side effects? Right now I feel good, down 100 lbs. and after taking a year off from golf and now dealing with a frozen shoulder, it took me 5 rounds to break 90 and in the last 5 I have had an 80 and 81. Anyhow, any advise on Avastin would be appreciated.
Oh and go Dodgers
Jeff
