Update from Laz.
Dear Friends,
I'm back amongst the living again. Or shall we say amongst the awakened.
Yesterday the sungery lasted between 11 am to 9pm. Everything went really well, I barelly had any nausea and the pain is minimal. I sleep a lot, but they always wake you for something. Everybody is so kind an professional. This afternoon I'm planning a little walk.
Im taking cimetidine and L-Arginin which are supported to prevent metastasis post-surgery and antibiotic as well. I'm also drinking Yerba Mate tea which is also good for colon cancer.
Decided to do a chemo sensitivity test here in Long Beach, Ca so we gave them 1cm fresh tissue sample so they can tell which chemo is the most effective and the ideal dose. It is $4000, the insurance may cover it and they allowed 10 payments.
So, so far everything is going so well and I want to thank all of you for the outpouring support and love. Also sending ton of love to those that are down.
Will update you soon,
Laz

Hello, this is great news that you are able to get on the computer so soon after surgery. When I had my surgery I was out of it for 2 days and that was about a 3 hour surgery for vats lower right lobe lung removal. Its great that the cancer is gone and they will do the chemo testing. I am glad you updated us as I have been thinking about you. Lori

Hi Laz!
I am SO glad to hear from you and very happy that your surgery went well. It sounds like after such a complex procedure, you are doing quite well. I am smiling from ear to ear right now! I can't believe that you planned to take a walk this afternoon--that is wonderful and will help you build your strength. I'm glad you are in good hands and getting excellent post-op care. I hope the chemo sensitivity test will allow your doctors to know the very best treatment for you.
I wish you a speedy recovery and thank you so much for letting us know you are doing well. Take care!

Morning Everyone.
Yesterday was a pretty ueventful day. Got up a couple of times to walk and ate some solids the first time. The pain is managable, but I'm very weak. To night they take out my catheter, but I will still have some drains in me. Hoping to leave the hospital on Monday and continue with wound and Stoma care in my home town.
Thanks for all the wonderful wishes, they really uplifted my spirit.

I am so impressed by how well you are doing! I'm glad you are able to manage the pain and I hope it will subside quickly for you. I can't believe you will possibly be going home on Monday--that's truly remarkable. If you are like me, you would much rather recover at home. You are doing great, my friend, and I hope you have a restful weekend (well, inasmuch as possible in a hospital) and that you get sprung from that place on Monday! Take care and know that my prayers continue for you and your lovely wife.

Wow you are amazing!!! I wasn't up and walking until day 6 after my op. It's so great to hear you are doing so well you have been in my thoughts and prayers all week. Fantastic that you can go home soon too you will feel so much better in your own home. Where did they end up taking the flap from?
You keep taking it easy and give your body time to recover. Every day you will feel a little stronger.

Because I have great people around me:my wife, family, friends, the professionals and of cours people here on the durum. I think so much about much help and support I got here. There is no way I could have gone through this so well without you .
They ended up taking out a 3"x 8" piece of muscle and skin from my abdomin on the right side. They folded it down to fill the empty recital space and used it to have a better closure down below.
