Halloween costume
This is a picture of our beautiful 4 yr. old granddaughter, Katie. She's off to see the wonderful wizard of OZ in her Dorothy costume. She needs her basket and TOTO to complete the look though. Mom and Dad are searching for it. Next year she'll have a baby brother or sister to join her with trick or treating (older son). This will make grandchild No. 5. Our latest grandson (Evan) was born May 29th of this year (younger son).

I guess I better stop eatin' those crayons and send them to your grandkids! . Not to imply they want/need fat crayons .
Congratulations on number 5 arriving soon!
Now are you dressing as the "Wicked Witch" or a "Flying Monkey"?
The Flying Monkey sounds good to me !!! Oh, don't you know kids don't mess with crayons anymore. They want ipads to color with now. She'd just love one of those 3 wheeler tricycles you and your boys use though. LOL

John,
My neighbors across the street have three young kids who are very active and who love the outdoors. They are like all children used to be -- like I was as a kid. My brother and I were hunting alone in the woods with rifles at 13 years of age, and I was drivng farm trucks during our annual visit to my grandfather's farm each summer at about the same age (13 or 14 years old). Try that today, and your do-gooder neighbors would have a variety of social services agencies cuffing you and leading you to jail !
Nowadays, kids sit, wringing their hands with Angst, or sit electronically pacified with the latest addictive software. That, and a handfull of mind-altering piis. I taught high school for one year about ten years ago, and that was what most amazed me -- so many kids on perscription drugs. Drugs which no one took 30 years ago; drugs which did not then exists. Soon, kids with just have a chip inserted into their heads at birth, to determine their beliefs and attitudes. Something "safe" : No strong opinions, nothing "offensive." You know: Zombie like. They will just robotically grin and agree with the evening news. (Some, as they read this, will be thinking "Gee! That would be wonderful !" )
My neighbor one day said, "Sorry the kids are so loud and roudy!" I told him, "Thank God there are still a few normal people left on earth !" A few.

Max,
I know exactly what you mean. When I think back to my childhood and then compare the kids of the last 20 years it is a shame at what is happening. I can remember years ago riding down the road past houses and I'd see kids in their yards outside playing. Now when I ride down the road I do not see any kids at all. I guess they are in their house watching TV or playing computer games. It's a shame to what it has become. I get caught behind a school bus every so often and they stop at every house to let kids off. There are no bus stops anymore. I assume it's because of all the perverts out there. Anyway, thats how I know there are children living on the roads I drive down, but never see them outside playing. Not even on the weekends. It reminds of a song called, "In The Year 2525", by a group named Zager and Evans. It's a song from the 60's. Bring it up on the web and see what you think. Only thing is I do not think man will even make it to 2525. BTW: It mentions the word God in it so I hope it doesn't offend anyone. John

John,
I remember the song 2525 very well. You may also recall the British TV show The Prisioner, starring Patrick McGoowan, which was about government mind control. McGoowan dares to question things and is banished to a Thought Police island dubbed The Village. His name is change to "Number 6." The following is a brief scene from the program. He gets about as much 'freedom of speech' as we shall all have soon !

Max,
I remember that show as well. I remember my late uncle watching it at our house one night and he said to my father, "Must be Hell having to live there". If he could see it now. Now if you try to tell someone what it's all coming too they tell you that you are ignorant. I wonder if they own a mirror? Would you believe Dictator Looney Tunes even tried to shut down the ocean in Florida 2 days ago. Even the Liberal news stations called him a Hitler wannabe. That is on news websites all over the place. I guess they are ignorant as well. It really has me worried as to what is going to happen to us and our kids as far as any health care in the future. Anyone that this offends had better remember we dealing with Cancer here, not the flu. John
