Minor set back
So I've been MIA since I've gone back to work, it's hell since my partial open nephrectomy July 11. Most of my pain comes after work... It had nearly vanished except for when I sneeze however it resurfaced at my incision which stays swollen so my dr said go to the ER. They did a ct and took blood work said I was still healing that my nerves were still mending etc. they sent me home the same night and called me back the next evening telling me I had a bacterial infection and that's what's causing my pain. I got Iv antibiotics...headed hoe with strong antibiotics. im still in pain and will be admitted in a few days if things don't change. I can't take off from work bc I need days to trVel to my dr in NYC. Ugh I just want all of this to be over with...I need a break.... So frustrated

Well that certainly is not
Well that certainly is not fun! So sorry to hear you have an infection, but glad they caught it. You need to take all the time you need to rest and deal with this. You don't want it to get worse. I hope your employer is kind and understanding. Please take good care of youself and know this too shall pass. You will be much better soon! Like you said, it is a minor setback but nothing that can't be fixed. Keep in touch!

Thank you, my boss acts understanding but idk... This weekend I tried to rest but I feel worse. I know they depend on me and I need the money but I might need to take a week off bc I'm not 100%. I just wish I could be me again.

I am so sorry you are having a hard time. How soon did you go back to work? Is it a large incision? I have my open partial this coming Thursday. I am not at all excited about it. I am worried because I have to do a lot of lifting and bending at work. I will also have to be able to take "call" upon my return, which requires me to push a 770 lb cart all over the hospital.

I returned 5 weeks after, the firs week was prep no students and my colleagues did all the arraignment of my class. I'm on light duty/ no walking or standing for long periods of time. I sit a lot which I'm not a costumed to doing. i walked with my pillow for two weeks then got brave and left it home I have help all the time. My incision closed and it looks amazing surgery went well. No major issues. I was fine and trusted my dr 100% I was treated in ny at sloane Kettering. I live in fl btw. I was home a week after surgery. My pain had nearly vanished until last week.... Now I somehow have an infection and it hurts but my dr isn't sure it's related just that it's causing pain to the area where in healing. You will do great my dr said if I had to get cancer this is the best and easiest to treat... Sending prayers up for you
